You need crush washer or shims if you want to get the muzzle brake to line up. Other choice is to have a lathe and cut the brake so it lines up perfectly.

Be careful. Those are murky waters. Sometimes LE may not be able to differentiate between muzzle brake and flash hider.

Yep, Crush washer is the way to go. Once it gets snug, you turn just a tiny bit at a time, I believe you tighten then back off then tighten a tiny bit more then back off and so on if I remember correctly, maybe that was for something else. But you just go a little till you get it lined up where you want it, check it often because once you go past where you want it you have to start all over with a new crush washer. But if you want to have it done, I would think just about any local gun shop could do it for you. I believe I used one of those clam shell boxes that clamp around your upper, then the vice clamps down on that to hold the upper while I wrenched the brake on, I did go too far the first time. The second time I made sure I had my rifle all lined up level then made a sharpie mark at the exact 12 o-clock on the top of the tip of the barrel, then marked the dead center top of my brake so when I started tightening the brake I knew where to stop at the point the 2 marks lined up.

            I posted this link earlier.

It is a nice trick, and it works. I had no problem using his method to install a couple muzzle brakes, and had them lined up pretty well.

            (And yes, use crush washer.)

Its not about the tools, its about the fact i cannot get it straight. i physically can, and i am sure i can figure a way to hold it down, does not change the fact no matter how hard i try it will always be off.

The longer your wrench is, the easier it will be to adjust with accuracy.

some have recommended sit on it to hold it or have someone sit on it.

i had an acquaintance who gripped it with his knees.

yep, vise is nice. i just c-clamped mine my low profile vise to a desk. it's ready for use once the botach reaction rod copy comes in to change muzzle devices.

Guys, I appreciate all the help, I really do.

I'm not saying I've been trying with my lwrc to get it straight and I'm failing. I havent even attempted. I've attempted in the past and it's always crooked.

I just need a shop I can take it to, I have zero interest doing it myself.

Its like this, I have a 97 k2500 and an 18 zr2. I do all the work on my 97 k2500, but I take the zr2 in to get worked on. Sure I can work on it, but I'd like to get it done right, by someone whose end all be all is this.

I work on my other ARs, I've changed the muzzle devices but I'm never satisfied with it, always off just a little.

                          just do a search "kendog"

parking is a tad iffy and the roads are little tight in that residential area. no issues with his services. he also installed my AR comp (forgot to mention) on top of my remington work request.
