    Installing muzzle brake on ar

Hey, I'd like to swap out the brake on my lwrc and the flash hider on my aero uppers. I don't have the vice or the wrench to do it so i'd like to just get it done, i just don't know where to go these days for this. Any recommendations? I just want to make sure it's lined up like it should and i can't ever seem to get them perfect.

    Thanks for the help!

You have an adjustable wrench? Iv had success Placing the rifle upright between my legs with the pistol grip preventing the rifle from turning to take them off and put back on.

I know have a vise but in a pinch it works

        I'm in Millbrae.

I can never seem to get the brake on straight, always off a couple degrees

You might want to consider getting a crush washer. Then you don't have to worry about timing so much.

Harbor freight vise, amazon (or similar) for adapters to grip the barrel. Crush washers.

                  Sorry, not sorry.

Of course it can be done this way, but you're putting a lot of.torque on the barrel extension index lug and the barrel when doing so. It has the potential to cause problems. Ideally the barrel is in a vise or you use something like the Geiselle reaction rod (there are cheaper copies out now) to avoid putting stress on the barrel extension threads.

The Magpul Bev tool is pretty handy for various barrel / muzzle device installs/removals.

But you would also need a vise to hold it in place. There are clamp on table vises, but they might not work for really stubborn barrel nuts / seized threads

before I invested in AR-specific tools, here's a low budget trick I learned on youtube.

wrap your FSB in a rag, and grip it with a channel lock in your left hand. In your right hand, use a crescent wrench. Then push and pull to loosen or clock your muzzle device. eat your wheaties and bear down.

If your device doesn't have wrench flats, and you have a Miculek-style device, you can stick a screw driver through the ports and twist and pull. Bubba would be proud, but it gets the job done.

harbor freight have cheap vise and adjustable wrenches. if you have more than one ar and like to change parts, it will be valuable for future use.

I own all the tools, just not whatever holds the upper so i dont break anything. I have the regular ar wrench with the torque wrench slot, for how much i paid for it, i'd just like it to be nice...

Its not about the tools, its about the fact i cannot get it straight. i physically can, and i am sure i can figure a way to hold it down, does not change the fact no matter how hard i try it will always be off.
