    Hopefully not.

This is actually the only time I've ever heard of one going nuclear (other than that one on gunzone)

I'm still working on getting more info. As I said, as soon as I know more, and hopefully have pics I'll update.

      Who was the manufacturer?

It could have been due to excessive headspace on Polytech or Norinco bolts.

By the original post it sounds like it is a Springfield. I'd found out what ammo they were using and where they got it. Send whats left of it of the SA.

My guess as well. It seems that you would need a barrel obstruction to cause enough pressure to blow the gun up. Well, at least in a .308 rifle load which doesn't have enough case capacity to double charge or even overload by THAT much.

It will be interesting to see what actually hapenned.

Probably the 308 from India. I checked out a bunch of them when my friend bought a crate... None of the bullets were pressed into the casing at the same depth and I was hearing a bunch of issues with squibs.

                roger that!

The only time any of my gear gets "loaned out" is if I am standing there watching you use it.

Regarding the M1A failure earlier in the thread I dont know of anyone saw the link on the bottom of that page but it links to an analysis of the failure. It was determined to be a bad barrel; improperly formed steel.

the report was also of a rifle from several years back. I hope if it was a manufacturung flaw that they have fixed it by now. I don't want my brand new baby split in half.
