    Help with optic mount.

I have narrowed it down to two choices. Either the

    Warne XSkel Gen 2

Find 30mm scope mounts complementing the specific design and features of the MSR rifle. Shop the Skyline Cantilever, R.A.M.P. and SKEL series.

I am not a fan of Larue mounts.

The way the levers “cam” onto the receiver can make a dent in the aluminum.

Out of those two, I’d go with the Warne especially if you don’t care about having a QD mount.

It looks like a good mount for the price.

You will laugh. But you should grab one of these. I ordered it just to check it out. And just got it yesterday. It’s unreal. Number one, it IS 7075-T6 billet. It’s built amazingly well. And the machining is very nice. This thing is solid & strong. I know people aren’t gonna believe it. I was skeptical. But for under $40 I thought I’d try it. I’m blown away by how good it actually is. It’s easy as good as some of the more $$$ mounts out there. And almost all of the expensive mounts are made 6061! I’ll take some pics of my actual mount and send them to you if you want?

        I still can’t believe this. https://www.amazon.com/IORMAN-Huntin...NsaWNrPXRydWU=

I don’t like the Larue locking levers.

The way they engage the receiver makes it very easy to dent the aluminum.

You’ll find that if you remove the mount a lot, you’ll have to tighten the adjustment nut more and more.

Not sure what issues you are having with it..... but I would re-consider an Aero Precision Ultralight mount. Great mount at a great price, lightweight, and matches your Aero upper.

Offer this guy the price you are willing to pay. Bobro's are awesome.

I have used several LaRue mounts and several Warne, and would recommend either. In this case, I'm going to suggest the Warne mount because you can get it in a 20moa canted version. The extra angle will give you 20moa of additional elevation adjustment in your scope. There is zero drawback to having the extra adjustment, and it could prove very helpful if you shoot at long range - which I'm assuming you'll eventually do with a big-boy AR. The Warne X-Skel 20moa mount is exactly what I mounted on my M5 6.5 Creedmoor build with an Athlon Ares BTR 2.5-15x50 scope. You won't be disappointed!

If you want the Warne, you can find it it much cheaper. Once again, Warne doesn’t MAKE those mounts!

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0851RKTN3 But I’m telling you. The first one I posted is unreal.

Only $111.99 for the black Warne mount at Midwayusa

Sometimes I wonder why I even bother. Some people are just incapable of understanding the simplest of things.

Comparing the 2, I think the Warne has better machining & weighs less due to more lightening cuts. Is it enough to justify the price difference is up to you. But if you do get the imitation, at least get it from Midway/Brownells so you're supporting a pro-2a company. They go on sale sometimes for about $50, but then again the Warne mounts go on sale for $90 sometimes too.

The aero mount is half the weight, clean, and works well.
Seems an easy answer, especially considering the lower price.

Otherwise, if OP wants to buck up the bobro as the Marikina Man said, is an excellent mount, QD, self adjusting and guaranteed return to zero.
Just an excellent mount far better in design and function than the LaRue, and cleaner than the Warne IMO.

The Warne mount is fine. So are some of the others mentioned. I'd avoid the Larue or Aero or any mount that splits at the top.
