OP, i take it you decide to go with the complete-rifle-to-go purchase option for your AR. Nothing wrong with that, but you previously mentioned you only wanted 1 AR and this is also "high end".

The FN AR you mentioned looks decent but is short on specs, which makes me think it is just assembled from off-the-rack parts. As others have mentioned, not worth the inflated price

Were you able to try out any featureless variants of Sig Sauer M400 or Smith&Wesson M&P-15 ? Both are Sub$1000 ARs from major manufacturers.

Depending on if you're OK with a front sight gas block or not, CA-legal-converted FNs run as low as $1150 on RifleGear and $1400 without that FSB. Granted those are not in stock at the moment, but I'll agree with toiletfighter that if you're in a bit of a rush, getting Audiophil2 to find you one, convert it, and send it over will probably open up more options to you, that are properly priced.

Just gotta have a bit of patience tbh, it's literally one of the worst times to buy right now. Unless you're after high-end 1911s, for some reason I've been seeing good numbers of them like Wilson Combats and Ed Browns, lightly used, for $2k. Terrible time to buy a Glock though, who wants to pay $1400 for a Glock 19? Point being, $1800 because of a Hera stock is being taken for a bit of a ride although I bet they are selling right now due to peoples' impatience, lack of supply of other guns, and a lack of understanding of CA legality. FN stamping it CA-Legal straight from the manufacturer probably makes a few sales right there. Aesthetically Hera stocks are arguably cool but ergonomically they're not that great anyways.

This thread is so laughable. Folks...$1800 is not market price. That's MSRP. See post #6.

Can't believe I even have to explain that.

I'll man up and acknowledge: Fair post aside from the "laughable attitude" and good info in post #6. Honestly, I've stopped reading posts other than the original post due to the sheer amount of FUD that gets posted and the constant derailing of threads off-topic. I usually just read the OP to see what the actual topic/question is. Otherwise I would have just said to go the jonnyt16 route. 95% of the time, reading other posts becomes just a waste of time watching people flex their own personal collections, insulting people for having a budget they'd like to adhere to, or just pissing matches between members.

Also, that's pretty insane. MSRP of $1800 but a street price of $900 is a huge price slash. It almost makes me wonder if its a listing error, because the "original price" that website has listed is $1,199.

Buy a Magpul carbine fixed stock and Strike simple featureless grip for $50, sell the Hera for $100, come out a winner.

Haha, true. I think most were assuming the FN link was what the LGS is asking, being that OP never stated a price.

$899? Hell yeah, even with that goofy stock. Like LB mentioned, swap it out with something different and sell it.

Ok so now that's that cleared up, I'd take the FN for $900.

OP, how much was the shop you went to asking for the rifle?

$1500 is what they wanted. He said something along the lines that it retails for $1800, but he sells 'em for $1500.

Unless you absolutely must own it now, wait until prices normalize.

Why don't u just order that one online and have it sent to your local FFL? It'd still come in cheaper than $1500. Fees can't be that much can they?

Fees are $150 or 10% of gun cost, which ever is lowest. I didn't really want that FN anyway.

Holy craptacular. I thought $75 was a lot. Maybe find a home FFL if they exist in the Bay area? I found one in Simi that'll do it for $30.
