FN 15 Tactical II Ca - Any good?

I went to my LGS o buy a BCM. They didn't have them in-stock. No DD either.

The next best thing they had is this: https://fnamerica.com/products/rifle...actical-ii-ca/

    Is this any good?

I will have to swap the stock and grip and trigger. But other than that, is it good?

The one thing I did notice is that the safety switch didn't really have any clean click to it. It was also a tiny bit wobbly. Is that something a new trigger will fix?

1800$ is a lot even for an FN. you could probably buy a halfway decent complete featureless lower then shop for a DD, BCM, or FN upper half.

I like your list of brands, just now is an awful time since every liberal person in California got real gun friendly all the sudden after coronavirus (only for themselves obviously).
Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.

Paying a lot for that stock. Why not get a normal one converted?

        I wouldn't buy that, you're paying an extra $300 for a hera stock. That's probably a $1100 gun.

If your shops don't have what you want, wait a bit and get the actual gun you want to buy.
These days, you really don't need to upgrade guns, there are so many options you can buy exactly what you want, either through inventory or transfers.

FN makes quality stuff. Many of the military M4's and M16's are FN, not always Colt.

The MSRP in the first post is ridiculous, but for sub-$1K I'd buy one. That compliance stock contraption can be replaced with other options that are more ergonomic and still CA legal.

FN is equal to Colt, BCM, and DD.

Wow. 1800 for a fn. AR market is wild right now. 6 months ago you could get a Ruger (I think with the hera) for like $400. Not that they're in the same category at all but it certainly is interesting to see.

That hideous FN roll mark cost 6-700 bucks huh?

FN supplies the US military. If you need help beyond that to know if it's any good... I'd say you're beyond help. On the other hand, $1800 for a fairly basic AR, I'd say you can do better. And now, while demand is high and supply is low, is probably not a good time to buy guns if you want the most bang for your buck (no brainer).

No offense OP, but you asked this question already and got a few hundred replies. FN was mentioned there, and yes they make a good rifle.

I’m not sure I’d pay much more than $1k for that model, but it’s your money to spend as you wish.

I thought FN makes their rifles differently for the military than the civilian line

That seems to be the consensus. I will pass on the FN for now. Thanks.
