I haven't been to South Bay but Project 2000 is great. Some of the staff is a bit lacking in knowledge in regards to their inventory (individual guns and their workings and such), but they are zero attitude and don't get a whole lot of the casual "lets go rent guns" folks who are prone to acting foolish at the range. It is clean, well lit and has all of the indoor distances that you might want. It is definitely worth the drive.

South Bay Rod and Gun is your best bet in the area. Its a bit of a drive but worth it.

Oh and sorry I didn't catch your or your fathers name...

Yeah it was nice meeting you too Paul. Ironic that two Calgunnerss with the same brand lower and same brand upper, both brand new, are stall neighbors at the same range.

I've heard it's pointless for the recreational shooter because we don't fire enough rounds to notice wear and because we aren't using full auto. Regardless, 30 bucks for a little more preservation on a $1,000 dollar (or more) rifle is a small price. I'd say go for them unless you are really, really pinching pennies.
