Ruger PC Carbine - CA Legal?

    Hello Everyone,

I've been looking at the Ruger PC Carbine (model 19126) with the adjustable stock, and pistol grip. I was told that this was not California compliant due to the "evil features". Can you guys please confirm? A friend of mine was able to purchase a M&P 15-22 with these exact features without any issues so I'm a bit confused on what's allowed and what is not. Clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Rimfire rifles are exempt from the AW laws.

    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Well comes to the Calguner forum.

For what I understand the .22LR rifle is exempt from the CA Assault Weapon rules. If you Ruger PCC shoot .22LR then it will be exempt also, unfortunately the Ruger PPC shoot 9mm ammo so it is not exempt from the CA AW rules. Your friend's M&P15-22 shoots .22LR ammo so it is exempt from the CA AW rules.

Similarly the SAA revolvers are exempt from the CA Roster but the other revolvers are not.

The following are considered assault weapons under CA laws:
Ruger PC Carbine (19122 & 19124) = no fixed magazine and has a folding/telescoping stock and has a pistol grip.
Ruger PC Carbine (19126) = no fixed magazine and has a pistol grip.

        The S&W M&P-15/22 is a .22LR semi-auto rifle.
Rimfire rifles are exempt from CA assault weapons laws and can legally have features that are restricted on semi-auto centerfire rifles.

in addition you would have to select from the California compliant versions of the Ruger PCC if you want to but it, such as the 19117 and 19116 versions which do not have pistol grips nor adjustable stocks
