    Daewoo DR200 1x7 Custom barrels

    Whats Calguns,

So this last year I was able to obtain one of the rifles I have been looking for, for a long while now. The Daewoo DR200(since we cannot have the K2). The Daewoo came with the thumbhole stock and a barrel with a twist rate of 1-12. Now 1-12 is all good but I just wanted a bit more of a versatile gun, so the quest of making custom 1-7 barrels came into being. Now I know the K2 came with a 1-7 stock but again we cannot import those in our fine state nor were there an abundance of old stock barrels.

Long story short I teamed up with a buddy machinist of mine who is known to some for building some fine custom barrels and we are almost done. I will post some pics.

    Specs on barrels -

    Green Mtn Blanks

    4150 Steel

    16inch will be threaded 1/2-28

custom AR barrel extension(Daewoo Barrel extension is longer)

    Twist rate is 1-7

Barrels will be drop in - just need to get a smith to drill gas port

Cant wait till mine is done and will post some pics of range trip... I went ahead and financed 10 more barrels and will post in market place when all said and done.

Very interesting! Let me know costs but more importantly, how easy it is to install.

I have a Daewoo that I purchased new and I love shooting it more than my ARs. It is rugged and accurate but the 1:12 twist prevents me from shooting heavy bullets as well as .223 Rem ammo.

it will be direct drop in - and would be no problem for any competent smith to do. You will need the smith to drill gas ports as we will leave those un-drilled due to not all guns being 100% alike.

I don't think the K2 was 1 in 7. I had an AR-100, which was later than the K2 and it was 1 in 12. It did shoot USGI M855 okay at 100 yards though. Supposedly that was the difference between M855 and SS109. The center of gravity was enough different in M855 that it shot okay in 1 in 12 barrels.

Some googling shows that some of the K2's were 1 in 7, but many were 1 in 12. My AR-100 was definitely 1 in 12. If some bastid hadn't stole it, I would want one of your barrels.

Are you making new barrel extensions or harvesting the original barrel extensions to be put on to the new barrels at installation?

              Hahaha indeed you do brother.

To answer above question - 1st barrel has OG extension. Rest of barrels are drop in with custom modified AR barrel extension. Can't go into the process, sorta a trade secret but not really. [emoji6]

Very cool, something for the Woo owners out there. I have a DR-200 but I managed to get a hold of a standalone K-2 upper which already has the 1:7 barrel so I'm good for now, but I was under the impression that the Daewoo essentially uses AR barrels (at least with the barrel extensions) and that it's only really the barrel profile that needs work to fit the K-2/DR-200 gas block?

Post some more pics once you have this project near completion.

Nice, yeah had I had the ability to get a K2 I wouldn't have to take on this venture lol. The Woo extension is a bit longer than standard AR extension, so modifications need to be done to get it fit in the bolt correctly. I will be posting pics soon. BTW are you korean? I noticed your location and it saying you live in CA. lol. I am half korean bro, hence my venture to go all out on the Woo.

The 'woo is just an awesome gun bro, hybrid AR/AK system. Plus I am half Korean and my cousins trained on this system so its kind of a culture thing for me as well. As far as the barrel builds, I wanted to be able to have versatility of a 1-7 barrel than be stuck with a 1-12 and always shoot 55gr max.

Well, it's a gas piston instead of DI. It also has a cut for the sling swivel.

Especially for its time. It has tapped holes on the upper for an optics mount. It has an actual handle on the bolt carrier - cock it and forward assist with the same handle. It has an awesome folding stock if you're not in Cali. It's the best stock I've ever felt on a rifle. It also has adjustable gas. You didn't see that kinda stuff on 80's AR's.

Everything sigstroker said as well! Lol. Btw I am looking into possibly having my buddy machine oversized stainless steel charging handles as well. Heard there might be a market for that as well [emoji6]

Should be done this week... needless to say alot of time and effort went into these to make them drop in. Latest pic shows cut for front sling as

These will be cross posted in a few other forums and at this point it's a limited 10 barrel run. Will update again when all barrel extensions are done.
