When with a few C10's. Would have tried PMAGS but I can't find the version with steel lips anywhere only coming up with the all polymer kind.

Best poly 762 mags are Arsenals and Russian 103/104

just avoid the usual bad players like kci and promag style drums.

i use romanian back loaders since they are the cheapest that are reliable.

circle 10 mags are the golden standard but the magwarehouse bulgarian poly with steel lips and lugs for $14 are the standout bargain that stood head to head with circle 10 mags during out tests. i personally use the 40 round versions since i am running machine guns but if i only had a semi auto the bulgy $14 mags would be my first buy. i have a few stored away i dont plan on using but the price makes them worth stocking up on.

pmags with steel inserts are worse than the non steel pmags in rough conditions. the inserts pop out making them useless after a hard drop.

if i had a tight budget even the tapco mags are good for the price.

Steel Mags Russian, Polish, Hungarian in that order.

Polymer Mags Russian Bakelite or nothing for the snobs.

Cold war era steel 30's, doesn't matter who made them.

The Polish Radom Fabryka Broni polymer mags would be an exception to this.. or the WPB versions for 7.62 x 39.

If all you want is a well built, reliable AKM mag then steel ribbed comblocs are hard to beat. You can find surplus grade mags for under $20 from various vendors. Chinese flatbacks are very nice steel mags as well. If you want BHO followers, look for Yugo surplus or the new Croatian.

As others said, Circle 10/21 or Russian made Izzy/Tula are the best poly/plastic mags, but will cost you more. The poly Bulgarians that audiophil mentioned are a killer deal. There are also some Polish WBP/Circle 11 plastic mags that run fine, but lack steel reinforcement. Magpul is gtg as a range mag.

Be careful though. Collecting AK mags can become addictive.
