First AR build, pics added

11 days ago i purchased a territorial gunsmiths lower, since then i purchased a DPMS 20" flat top upper, carry handle, an A2 buttstock, and a RRA LPK, this morning i picked up my lower and will be building my first AR during lunch, ill post pics if i have time. Im pretty exited, i think my next build will be something smaller and more tactical, but for my first, i wanted something just like what i had in boot camp, that i can take the the range and get a nice group at 500 yards with. i know a lot of people really disslike the look of a full sized un-modded AR, but i wanted to stick to the basics for now.

furthermore, my dad purchased a ruger 10/22 international from 19 seventy something when i purchased my ar lower, and we shared the DROS, but he left $200 on the balance, then had to make an emergnecy trip the the philipines, and i got stuck paying off his $200 debt, just so i could get my lower. is it wrong to assume i just picked up a 10/22 for $200?

Ha ha! No you didn't p/u a 10/22 for $200. You did you and your dad a favor by paying for his rifle and yours. As far as the stock looking 20" AR Build goes, it is your rifle and if you can out shoot someone with a fancy and more tactical looking AR then kudos to you.

A2's are cool, get a Monsterman grip and take off the flash hider if it has one for a featureless build.

I went down the same road, plain Jane A2 featureless and now I'm working on a ~lightweight Bullet Button build. If the gun shop ever gets my receivers in I'll get it done some day...

Enjoy that territorial Gunsmiths lower. I just built my first AR using it last week. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but it sure looks purdy... Fits will with my DoubleStarr upper and the system is nice and tight.

No offense to anyone, but everytime I see a monsterman grip, I throw up in my mouth a little.

None taken, but every time I swap out a 30 round pre-ban magazine with a press of a button it makes me feel funny in my pants.

How can you share a DROS?

Wouldn't that be a straw purchase?

Don't know the legalities sharing a dros, I assume since a father can give their son a long gun with no paper work needed and vise versa, it doesn't matter as long as we are both allowed to own a gun. But like I said, I'm not a ffl and I don't know. Anyway, the build is done and ill post pics tonight. the roll pin that holds the bolt catch in place broke while going in, its missing about 2mm of it. I hope its ok

As long as the bolt catch works fine, it should be OK. However, if you don't like the fact that it's missing 2mm of it, you could always get another one and replace it. You'll need a roll pin punch and a small plastic/brass hammer to replace it.

yeah, i was able to find one local, thanks for all of your help though, ill keep all of those websites in mind for future needs.

the only mag left and the shop was a 5/20 colt mag. kinda sucks, but i normally dont load more than 5 at a time at the range anyway
