I don’t think a lot of people want to drop 10k on scope. I take pride in what I can or can’t hit. If I can’t then I need practice.

I think having a laser designator integrated with a scope is the future. But, the last I heard, TrackingPoint was having major financial problems so who knows how long those guys will be in business.

The odd thing about tracking point's design is that you have to "mark" the target and then you activate the trigger and the NEXT TIME you get on target, it fires for you.
So there are two distinct actions there, aligning the sight on the target and activating the trigger.

I find it is more convenient to simply put my crosshairs on the target and then activate the trigger to fire my rifle and save the $10,000 for a nicer truck.

Its a great practice when you are working with a team or calling in close air support.
Not as much use if you are not working as a team though.

I should have made my point clearer in that I was referring to adding the capability for individual riflemen to have a scope system that will both 1) lase the target and identify range and 2) Automatically perform ballistics calculation and present an aiming point for them. I would also like to see some form of Shotspotter technology integrated into the scope to identify direction of last shot.

And it's not even the correct sub-forum for this topic. Definitely falls strictly into the Optics category. Nothing to do with any particular type of firearm.

What you are speaking of is a laser rangefinder, not a laser designator.
A laser designator is for marking (designating) a target so that your team members can see the illumination through their night vision equipment.

Yes of course you are correct. I don't know why I intermingled those terms as they're not the same. Thanks for the correction.

Yeah, Meprolight came out with something similar but not for commercial sale. If I had $1,500 to burn, would definitely get the Eliminator.

In 10 years I would imagine this technology to be readily available, much more efficient and reasonably priced for the average consumer.
Just look at the advancements in thermal and NV in just 10 years.
