Yep, I'd buy a whole nother PC Carbine to have a 10mm... with the power of a .357 mag carbine.

Are the barrels that easy to swap?

      A .40 S&W "kit" I'd probably just skip it.

I like this new Ruger 9mm carbine better than the old version from the 1990's

I really like the take down barrel and ability to use Glock 9mm mags, ghost ring sight, machined rail on top of receiver,

fluted barrel, threaded muzzle with protector, the stock can also be adjusted for length of pull, they did a good job on this one.

I just might get one since I sold my old model

I don't hate .40 S&W... I'd save my supply of ammo for my two Glock 22's and CZ40B

I have a .357 Sig barrel and about 100 rounds of the ammo, hahah.

9mm will be a blast. My last case of brass cased 9mm I paid under $7 a box.

the 9mm is more versatile and common, I use to shoot Speer Gold Dot +P 124 gr JHP out of my older model PC9

it had plenty of power with the 16" in barrel

I have mine on order at Turners for the non threaded barrel and will stick with that order.

I was just made aware that Alamo Pawn in Covina will order the threaded barrel version and sell without the magazine, great option for the majority who want this.

EDIT-forgot to add its $550, still a decent price for the locals.

This product is going to be a big winner for Ruger. It's brilliant.

With that logic, why get a 40? If power is important, get a Mini in .223/7.62x39/6.8/300Blk?

                        Heck, get a 30 Carbine.

Because those are rifle rounds. Remember this is a pistol caliber carbine. I already have an M1 carbine, that ammo isnt exactly cheap either. .40 has a pretty solid track record for HD.
I wouldnt want to fire a rifle round in my house but a handy pistol caliber carbine seems much more suitable.

Again, my main point here is to buy a carbine in 9mm for plinking cheap reloads, then get a caliber conversion for something a little more powerful for HD like .40, .357Sig, 10mm, or .45. Of those, .40 appeals to me the most.

I already have plenty of ARs in .223 and an AK in 7.62x39.

Haha, .40 isnt going anywhere. 9mm is popular right now because its better for plinking (ammo has been cheap and plentiful recently), there are better SD loadings than in the past, and smaller handguns for CCW are all the rage. But .40 is still very much alive and will probably make a comeback.

I have mostly 9mms to consolidate ammo, but my HD pieces are fullsize pistols in .40 and .45.

Its a great time to buy used .40s right now since everyone seems to be selling theirs and jumping on the 9mm bandwagon. I've seen a bunch of nice used Sigs and Glocks in .40 at the LGS. And when the next ammo shortage comes, there usually is .40 on the shelf long after all the 9mm is gone.
