Ruger 9mm takedown that can accept Glock mags

Ugh, sounds like kind of a piece of crap. Disappointing, my only other 9mm's were an Uzi and a Colt AR, both of which were flawless in operation. I suppose it's to be expected with the Ruger, being so cheap. I'll probably just shoot it until it breaks, then sigh and end up buying the MPX I was trying to avoid in the first place.Comment

I think you will be much happier starting off with the MPX. I doubt any Ruger will make you happy.^^ Said by some lunatic on the internetComment

Yeah, this is my first take down platform rifle. After my first range trip I took the rifle apart, took all the receiver components apart. Did a thorough clean and when I put the rifle back together I had that wiggle and it was bugging me. It did not take long to figure out what needed to happen to make the wiggle go away...NRA Member

so these have different model numbers. mostly about the barrel and magazine capacity . Ive had a couple now with the model that should be threaded but the barrel wasnt. had the bare muzzle. also had 2 now missing the glock mag adapters. ruger sent the part. they wanted the whole rifle back about the barrel.07 FFL Farwest Photography

Not sure I'll necessarily use this for this, but as another data point for bags... This is a Camelbak Octane 18x from 2011. Fits the stock/action with one spacer and an MRO low-mount like a glove (no obvious protrusions.) Stuck the barrel/fore end in a midway long pistol sock and placed it along the side. Makes for a pretty good incognito solution.

And so does Brian Miller: https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/...bine-upgrades/
I have been using one of Brian's prototype mounts and it works great. When mounting a red dot on top of the receiver, it is way too high for me to get a good solid, repeatable, sight picture.
With the red dot mounted on the barrel, it lowers the dot by about 1/2" and I get a good sight picture.
The only thing that worries me is that the red dot gets HOT being mounted on the barrel.
So far so good....time will tell.

After a stage, the red dot is hot to where it is almost too hot to touch. I am running a Vortex Razor so we will see how it works out in the long run.

The Romeo5 seems like it would be tougher. Lifetime warranty, and there's a youtube where the guy throws a Romeo5 around and a bunch of other stuff and it still worked.Comment

Tubes are tougher than micro heads-up style IMHO. I broke a FF3 easy and not on purpose just moving it from on top of a AR536 (removing the FF3 from the low mount)... screw driver blade slipped and shattered the nearby emitter lens which is exposed. Even though Burris was in the midst of sending out a gazillion free FF3's during one of those giveaway cycles, they replaced it quickly wiht a brand new one under the "no questions" forever warranty. No complaints here. Tubes are tougher and I can pickup a tube dot a little faster, but micro heads-up are super light, compact and fast enough. They definitely are not just for pistols. I have one on a shotgun, PCC, and four pistols.Comment
