    Not Impressed -- AR-15 GG&G Tactical Forearm

    [regret]

I'm not impressed with the GG&G Forearm for my AR-15. the 1/2 length side forearm panel only fits on the rear portion only and they only give you limited parts, leaving other sections open with screws hanging out. Not that this is bad, I just dont see the reason to spend the money when you can get a Yankee Hill forearm for the same price and be done with it?

actually, that GG&G thing goes for $215. YHM goes for $120... You save and get better quality with YHM. There are a few other rail systems out there you can get for less than $215.....new and used.

My buddy hated that GG&G so much he went and got a $50 UTG (china made rail for airsoft)....and it was better quality.

I purchased the complete upper and felt the same way. Another disappoint was that the rail was not free floated. I kept it, but ended up buying the extra rails to make it a complete railed forend. Knowing what I know now, I would have went another route. It was long ago, my first build and I was blinded by impatience. However, other than the components it came with, the upper has worked flawless for me.

Does anyone know if they make a good gas block?

I'm looking at the GGG-1024. It's the only one that seems to have all the features I want but it's expensive. I'll buy it if the quality is there.

I have to agree, i have the carbine length railed grip from YHM, its the light weight free float model. I was very impressed with its quality, fit and finish. And and you can beat the price of $113 shipped to your door from PK Firearms.

I have a GG&G Dominator upper on one of my AR builds, its not the best AR upper ever, but also not bad IMHO....especially consider it had flip up BUIS's

While I prefer full rails, I honestly don't mount enough crap to them to make it worth while. I have a laser on the offset mount on the left side, a Streamlight on the right side, and a gripod mounted to the bottom.

Now if I had a IR designator, night vision crap, a magnifier, gernade launcher, I might need more rail space...but for another toy, it think its enough.

Plus the "soft" rail cover things are good to grip on to.....saves me the hassle of buying yet more rail covers

I did some testing on the Midwest Industries T Series rail hand guard. Very nice rail for the price.
