magazine size doesn't affect 922(r), it's the configuration change if you change to doublestack mags. the way i understand it is 922(r) comes into play when you alter the original configuration of an imported semi rifle. the same applies when you pistol grip an sks or mill out the magwell on any other imported sporter to accept double column mags (i.e. vz-58). single stack mags larger than 10 rds. do exist.

here's one we're debating on the 'files. ca legal 59/66. when you remove the grenade spigot you alter the original configuration.
        1. does 922(r) apply?
        2. did you kill it's (federal) c & R status?

Factory saiga mags are double stack mags, there just 10 rounders, kind of like 10 round ar mags. Mark

Only Saigas NOT marked KalashnikovUSA are legal. (like EAA or RAA are legal). DO NOT buy a Kalashnikov USA marked Saiga.

Whoever thinks a RAA Saiga is illegal is (a) Spouting F.U.D. (b) unable to read and understand the english language, or (c) is staring directly at their colon.

Now the non-sporting configuration is having a 30rd or stanard capacity mag locked in. Not the ability to accecpt. Because the ability to accept is a bit fuzzy kinda like "series", not going there. If you take any standard AK mag and slap it in to a Saiga it will go in. It wont lock but some do. There is too much varitaion with AK manufacturing.

If you choose to use legally owned STANDARD capacity mags in your RAA Saiga than it will not be in a "Sporting" configuration. I'm not going to get into full conversions here. Read the laws and the AW chart.

If you use a standard mag than 922(r) games need to be played. A Saiga has 14 parts that count towards 922(r).

The others, well......they just never learn.

How is that a joke? We must have missed the punchline. I don't think the OP got much help from it either, other than "Quick, gay your rifle!"
