Like I stated, "in regard to NOT being a flash hider"

If someone calls a flash hider a flash booster, it is still a flash hider if it has any flash hiding capability. In addition, if a device that doesn't reduce flash, is called a flash hider or claimed to have flash hiding capability by the manufacturer, it is a flash hider in the eyes of the CA DOJ.

I know some my feel like this is trivial and difficult to prosecute on, I personally would rather spend a few bucks on a thread protector than thousands on legal defense.

Is that a muzzle brake? It looks just like the A2 flash hider on my AR right now, except for the smaller hole at the end. Manufacture says its a compensator / brake. Bought one last week to put on my AR, but I don't know for sure if its an actual muzzle brake and not a flash hider.

I think people have been using one just like that, in NJ, made by DPMS, and haven't had issues.

Muzzle brakes typically have bullet sizes exits so that is where I would start if I didn't just use a thread protector.
Then according to the data in these tests every device is a flash hider because they all reduce flash over a naked barrel.
