Because I like to spot my own hits or misses or follow up quickly on the smaller bore stuff.

I never had a brake until I had a firearm with a threaded barrel, which never happened until I had an AR. Every semi auto rifle I owned prior (AK, SKS, .30 Carbine, Mini 14) was a gas piston, which seem to have an entirely different recoil impulse, to me, than does a AR DI. So when I got a .30 Cal AR I decided to try out a brake on it, since it was already threaded and I already had any tool necessary to change it out.

That and I am probably weak kneed and never learned to shoot properly in the last 44 years since I got my first 12 gauge and started shooting.

Typical OP. He was a Cal Gun member at age 2 minutes old and was walking, talking and shooting by 5 days old. Everyone has a different reason for things they like, dislike or works better for them then the other person. That's all.

I own nothing with a brake on it , but do have a couple for my 45's
            [ Barrel bushing type ]
To me AW's are like hot rodding your car - O K if you like it . As a
hobby - there will always be the next best thing . I see a lot of fancy
stuff at the range - seldom does it put more in the black and when
it does - it is the shooter and not gun
I prefer my bolt action to AW's - if there was time to shoot and hit
a deer more than once , you would destroy the meat . The most was
3 shots into a pig [ it kept getting up ] and that tore up the back strap .

Well, that's an easy one Jon, to piss off people off like you at the range.

I shoot big-bore, i.e. 30-06, 7.62x54R, .303 Brit, 7.7 Jap, and several others. I have never needed a muzzle brake on any thing. If you learn to hold the rifle correctly, you can shoot it all day long and not get beat up by it.
My question to you guys is: why do you need a muzzle brake on a rifle such as the AR15 that has virtually no recoil? Are today's shooters that weak-kneed or did they not take the time to learn to shoot properly?
Again, I'm not trying to start a pizzing contest, just trying to have a question answered.

I have a 14.5" barrel 5.56 because I like the slightly reduced weight and look. I needed a permanently attached muzzle device to make my rifle >16", thus not a SBR. I chose a surefire muzzle brake to fit that bill, and so I have the option to add a surefire quick detach suppressor in the future. For now, I use a surefire warden for when I go to the range, if people are there.

                    this is my reason.

they claim that hiding my flash is dangerous, then i'm gonna make it loud.

can't wait until there are increased complaints of noise from people who live near ranges now.

If you need help with any stragglers, call a friend, because it's likely that they have a gun. America in particular have done exceptionally well taking care of the problem, as there are 1.12 guns for every 1 American citizen. So throw a rock, you'll probably hit a gun, pick up that gun, then shoot a zombie.

I like it because it makes it nicer and easier to shoot. Sort of like why I like guns; they're a lot easier than inserting the bullets manually is.

Helps shooter to keep on target for follow-up shots. Also, it makes the rifle more comfortable to shoot. Especially, when shooting hundreds of rounds. Doesn't matter if its a .308 AR or 5.56, recoil reduction makes the shooting experience more fun.
sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.

Doing a magpul d60 mag dump with a good working brake is better and more accurate then doing it with a standard a2 flash hider.

Theres a reason why LR shooters have muzzle brakes too

Well, unless I'm reading COR 5469 wrong, CA might classify a lot of compensators as Flash Suppressors:
