    VEPR .308 or PTR-91?

So I narrowed it down and since FALs are non existent in the 1200 price range and I don't trust an AR10 to shoot steel cased 24/7 these are my picks. What would you choose and why? Thanks guys

PTR, because it's a battle proven design, and it's bad ***

VEPR. ^^^ Pretty sure the AK platform has seen a lot more use than the PTR/HK stuff lol.

And the VEPR will cost less than the PTR too

PTR. Battle proven, Sexy, reliable, and just downright badass.

This is where I'm leaning, but keep the opinions coming. Any first hand experience with either here?

I don't see why a decent AR10 cant shoot steel.
But I would go with a PTR. I'm thinking about getting one

PTR. It's like a fat girl that will eat anything.

I don't have any experience with PTRs, but I have two Vepr .308s. Great rifles. I highly recommend them. All the benefits of the AK platform with the accuracy potential of the .308 cartridge.

Both lol. Well both guns will run, I don't think that'll be the issue, it just come down to personal preference. I chose the PTR because I love the way it looks, the magazines cost $6 each, super simple to break down and maintain and man....doing that HK slap to charge the gun is the coolest thing I've done since I've gotten into guns. Are you in SD? If you were around I'd let you try a mag...

Yes I'm in sd. I fondled a century c308 today and wasn't too impressed. I'd love to see how one shoots. Pm me your schedule if you can. I'll bring the ammo

I'm in SD too. We could all meet up and have a PTR-fest!
I too considered a VEPR but wanted to try a different type of platform. I have a MAK90 to satisfy my AK platform & remember seeing real HK91's in the store so the choice was easier.

You're in luck. I'm taking next week off as I transition to a new job so I'm pretty open. What ranges do you visit?

Lol @ PTR fest. I wish I could still buy a FAL also but it's too late in the game for me...
