First Post, First Build... First AR!

    First off, HELLO Calgunners!

I've wanted one of these rifles since I could remember, but thought I would never be able to acquire one living in California. I never knew there were CA legal AR's. On Christmas, my Uncle told me he recently purchased one, and that they are in fact legal. He told me about Calguns, and I'm glad he did. Thanks guys for all the info, and thanks to Uclaplinker for answering my endless questioning. Appreciated!

It's not complete yet. There are a few more things I want/need to add/change as usual. I like to tinker with my toys a lot, whether it be for fishing, spearfishing, or shooting/hunting.

It took 2 months to decide and acquire the parts, and a HURT in the wallet area. But, as of Tuesday I have myself a CA legal, fully functioning AR-15! It was fun to build myself, and will for sure be even more fun to shoot.

    Here's the build

    • Lower - Kaiser Defense
    • Upper - DD 16" Midlength w/12" FSP handguard
    • Buttstock - Magpul MOE
    • LPK - DPMS
    • FVG - Ergo, Graphite Verticle Grip
    • TROY Folding Rear Battle Sight
    • PMAG 10/30
    • Raddlock

I want to add some optics and a bi-pod, but am still undecided (suggestions welcome).

And... Here She Is! What'ya guys think?

Cool rifle and welcome to the forum. Is there a reason your rear sight is so far foward?
sigpicIf you loan someone twenty dollars and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Nice build, but you might consider moving the rear sight back. The longer sight radius helps with aiming.

Not particularly. It just felt comfortable there. I didn't realize it was that far forward. I'll try moving it back toward the rear. I've seen many pics of sights placed in this position, so assumed it was proper.

                      Thanks!
