Were you shooting prone, on a bench, standing? All of the above? If I shot from more positions than standing it wouldn't be so tiring...

Bench and standing. I was by myself at a private outdoor range, with 20rnd mags owned since the 90's. Some rapid fire involved. It was like I had a tattoo of the butt plate. Like I posted earlier, I went home and threw on a tank top, then over to a bar and grill where the ex was bartending. She's into firearms and just rolled her eyes.

Here's my PTR with an Iranian bayonet mounted. I too have the PCS heavy buffer & HK21 buttpad installed. Other mods include the bayonet mount (obviously ), extended charging handle & I dremeled out the holes in the handguard to let some heat out.

Myk, the PCS heavy buffer and buttpad referenced earlier makes a HUGE difference for me. Felt like an AK after that from memory. One of the best investments you'll make on the rifle. The buffer won't fit the wood stock without modification though.

I'll have to get that butt pad then. I forgot where I heard this but I was I'm pretty sure the latest PTR 's off the line already have the heavy buffer. I don't see a way to tell them apart though.

Edit: looks like I've got the standard buffer in mine. The heavy buffer is 4" long but my installed one is only 2". hkparts.net and RTG are sold out. Where else can you buy the heavy buffer?

Sign up for the notification on RTG when he gets more in stock. That's how I got mine. Bill Springfield also sells a complete improved buffer but I don't know how well it works.

I don't know how long RTG was out of stock but after signing up for the notification, it was only a couple of weeks. The nice thing about his notification email is he listed how many he got into stock and how many people have signed up for the notification so you could get a bit of an idea on whether he would sellout really quickly. It took 3 weeks for my LGS to get my rifle in & I actually had the buffer in hand before the rifle was out of 10 day jail.
