As of COB Thursday I will have three rifle kits and only two of my Three lowers. Which kit should I save for the Aero Precision lower which I consider the higher end (it's going to be custom engraved) and which kits should I use with the two Anderson lowers?

Try a lower parts kit that does not include the trigger. You can buy an upgraded trigger on the same order. Maybe a geislie, I know I spelled it wrong.
Check out website, Riflegear, they can send you any of those parts.
Please post pictures here of your rifles.

After I baseline what the triggers feel like, I plan to install an AGL. They are a faction of the price but perform (for the non deployed types, the same as the military Geissele Automatics triggers). AGL is a sister company to Geissele Automatics run by his wife. The trggers feature the same quality design and precision, but are a different material and process, and a fraction of the price.

But I agree a better trigger is likely. At the same time reviews on the triggers that come with the Alpha Shooting Sports kits rate them very highly. Well see.

The Daytona Tactical kit arrived. The package was less than impressive, but the barrel and free floating fore grip seem nicely done.

Because I was picking up in store the packaging of the Alpha Shooting Sports kit may have been nicer than if it was shipped, but I like it. Each Alpha Shooting Sports kit comes with a T-shirt.

Quality of the components feels first rate.
This build features a Nickle Boron BCG

The third kit from Alpha Shooting Sports was just as nice. This build features a Melonite/Nitride BCG

Sort of a meaningless side note, but since Alpha Shooting Sports includes a free t-shirt with their kit, I thought I would report on it. Most likely will shrink but for the first day my 2XL fits very nicely, has very nice style, enough that I am wearing it at work today in my own CCW store. Not often I wear a shirt of a company other than my own, a vendor I carry or a law enforcement agency that shops with me.

I like the American Flag on the sleeve.

Now that I have all the components to put together my three guns, I am assembling the tools needed. I have selected the YouTube video I am using to assist me. Have picked up a hobby table vice use in place of a standard vise since this will be built in my zen room. Have the roll pin punches, center punch, screw drivers, all three types of hammers, and oil. The vice block and AR-15 tool have been ordered and been shipped, should be here any day.

When the items being shipped arrive the build begins.
Still need to pick up some ammo for testing.
Believe I have everything I need except the grease for the trigger assembly.

For test and evaluation of the guns chose to purchase a six pack of 10 round CDP Mags, got a good price. They are all metal military grade mags.

The fold tabs are a little less comfortable to the bare hand than a Magpul or Hexmag would be. However they are compact will work well when testing from a rest or prone.

Just waiting on my AR wrench to begin the build.

Forecast for my last lower coming in from Aero Precision is the end of October, add 10 days for DROS and I should have the gun in build by mid November.

For those people who shoot their AR's for distance, say 300 yards and beyond, do you most often shoot from a rest, or do you shoot from a bi-pod?

For those who have bipods how often do you really use them?

How many use either a vertical grip or angled forward grip, do you like it, and for those who have tried both, which do you prefer, and why?

Started build #1 - Dayton Tactical Kit on an Anderson Lower.

                              Problems started early.

Installed mag release. Kit comes with a non-CA legal mag release but decided to install it and see how it fit. (Perfect). Next remove kit mag release and replace with Raddlock. Raddlock went of fine, followed directions, but it runs out of adjustment before locking into bullet button mode. Reinstall using included o-ring, situation doesn't get any better. Have an e-mail into Raddlock but I suspect the mag release is a thread or two longer than the Raddlock wants and will have to cut or replaced.

Installed bolt release no problem, except that roll pins are a pain, and yes I lightly scratched the lower receiver.

At a stop, in my prep I forgot to pick up a pivot pin install tool. Got a text into my buddy to borrow his, but have one on order now as well.

So far the Daytona Tactical kit is OK. They include there parts in colored bags, red, white, blue, yellow, black, not sure why, they didn't make it one bag per operation which would have made sense, and they didn't provide a list or label the bag as to what should be in it.

If I had made sure I had the pivot tool, I could have had the rifle done tonight and on the range tomorrow testing. Have everything else I need to finish the job once I have the tool. Not quite sure if I am disappointed in Raddlock or Daytona at the moment.

Completely disappointed with Raddlock. Installed the unit per direction, both written and Raddlocks own YouTube video. The unit is not stuck in place loose, and with screw bottomed out as they instruct, not coming back off.

Per direction sent e-mail Monday for support and have heard Crickets as of 1:30 on Wednesday.
