Very nice, my son is only 2 but I hope to get him in to shooting when he's a little older.

            OP that's cool.
Too much too young can turn a kid off.
The 22lr transition to AR was smart.

I started shooting around his age with my father and uncle's duty weapons.
Those guys were cheap, we could do whatever we wanted, as long as it was low cost.

            Imagine a 9yo with a S&W 66 shooting 357magnum, or trying to handle a Ithaca 37 with buck.
My baby brother dumped half a mag from a 92F into the air bc, well....its a lot of gun for a kindergartener.

It can put you off enjoying things.

Your right. I don't pressure him, and make sure he enjoys it. He may not shoot this rifle a lot right away, and he may stick to the .22. But once he shoots a steel plate at 300 yards, I think he'll be hooked, lol.

                      Ha nice..

I built my 3yr old boy an a really nice AR pistol out of an 80% lower I had done on a professional CNC machine and a bad *** DD mk18 10.3 upper. Had his name and b-day engraved on the lower. He's 5 now, and always talks about the gun I built like "legos" and how when he's older he's gunna go shoot it. Ca really ruined it all as far as legally giving it to him. But its still his no matter what.

Im thinking of getting him the kids savage rascal 22lr bolt gun in blue to teach him the fundamentals of shooting.

Took my son out yesterday to shoot the rifle. He's still a little scared of the recoil. He shot two rounds through it and hit the target both times, so it wasn't too bad. I think next time we'll head out to the desert where he can shoot some reactive targets like oranges. That should help him want to shoot it. But I'm not going to push him into it. Its there for whenever he decides he's ready to use it.

I did shoot a mag through it myself and its for sure a 1 MOA rifle. Plenty good enough for coyotes and steel plates.

Congratulations on getting your shooting partner kitted up. Very nice. AR's are top heavy for most kids and can cause some issue with them fighting the tilt. My youngest that's 10 now had that issue when using anything but a bipod to hold it. He started when he was 8. And his scores doubled immediately after going bipod while shooting military gas gun matches out to 500 meters.
