CMMG .22LR Conversion is JUST the same as Ciener, right?

Guys, you're completely misreading what Jicko is saying here.
In the post he was responding to, the poster DID NOT mention swapping any parts over from the mags, simply destroying one and reassembling the other. That WOULD BE ILLEGAL, as Jicko is pointing out. The cited DOJ PDF is fine with rebuilding magazines, which is only possible if the parts can interchange. Hence why Jicko was asking earlier if the parts will interchange between the mags.
When you can interchange a part, it becomes a rebuild. If you can't, then it is in fact, as Jicko was concerned about, manufacturing a new magazine.
Buy some black dog "rebuild kits". Disassemble your old ciener kits completely. Destroy the ciener bodies. Put together the black dog magazines.
You have now legally replaced/rebuilt your old crappy magazines with brand new ones.
I don't think this is a LEGAL way to replace a magazine!!
eg. I don't think one can LEGALLY destroy a 30 rounds AR mag and replace it with a new 100 rounds BETA mag.
So, PLEASE DO NOT distribute info that can potentially lead others to commit felonies. (Please point out otherwise!!)Primary author of gunwiki.net - 'like' it on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Gunwiki/242578512591 to see whenever new content gets added!Comment

- Disassemble the Cieners.
- Install the Ciener spring and follower in the BD body. Alter to fit, if needed.
- Replace the spring with the BD spring
- Replace the follower with the BD follower
Oh look, a legal rebuildPlease read the Calguns Wiki

I don't think CMMG bought out Ciener. From what I hear, Jonathan Arthur Ciener Inc. is dealing with a lawsuit...
We have both Ciener and CMMG kits and they are identical. Mags should work just fine.Racheal Rich

Now, if this is indeed possible, this would be a LEGAL way to repair the old Ciener Magazines.
Have you personally "alter to fit" a Ciener follower into a BlackDog body, and checked the functionality of the rebuilt magazine?? It would be great if that is possible.
Also, seemingly, the spring of the old Ciener mag can be use on the new BlackDog mag.... if that is true, that would be a great news too (I would like someone to confirm that!!). I would hate to get a bunch of BlackDog magazine parts from 44mag and then disassemble my bunch of old Ciener mags to found out that the BlackDog mag rebuilt won't be able to make functional with my old Ciener mag parts.
Having potentially 2 parts (followers and springs) that can be fitted into a new BlackDog magazine body and make it functional in the original kit/firearm, gives me a much more comfortable feeling.....
So, please, if anyone had personally did this before, please let me know. Post in this thread or just PM me. ;-)
PS. Thanks grammaton for the clarifications too.Last edited by Jicko; 01-06-2009, 11:54 PM.- LL

Now the real question, will you guys sell your hi-cap BD mags direct as disassembled rebuild kits?
Not that we don't like dealing with 44mag.com; It's just that we like to have optionsPlease read the Calguns Wiki

Would you mind posting or sending me some pics of the mags assembled, and fitting the parts in to complete the rebuild process?
I intend to do the same thing with posting the rebuild process for rebuilding a USGI 30rd aluminum mag into an HK 30rd steel mag, just haven't gotten around to it yet. It'd be a handy help for the numerous people who'd like to swap things around...
Also, anyone who's done things like convert 15rd mags into 30rd mags, I would like the same info... which parts interchange, a pic of original mag, in-process conversion (i.e. mag works and has a combination of parts) and 'after' conversion.
Come to think of it, I'm going to make this a new thread...Last edited by grammaton76; 01-07-2009, 2:22 PM.Primary author of gunwiki.net - 'like' it on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Gunwiki/242578512591 to see whenever new content gets added!Comment

Ya know, I've been toying with the thought of creating a "magazine rebuild compatibility list".

I've listed your BDM <-> Ceiner conversion at 'Hearsay' level in the TGW article's spreadsheet, and it'll be upgraded to 'Documented' as soon as I've got pics.
The only thing that could make things any better would be to add a video of function verification (i.e. shooting or dry cycling through a mag while the mag is composed of parts from both mags) to verify that the hybrid state is indeed a repaired magazine.Primary author of gunwiki.net - 'like' it on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Gunwiki/242578512591 to see whenever new content gets added!Comment
