Type 3 Hard Anodizing

I'm looking into getting a New Frontier Armory 80% lower, and it's going to be RAW. My question is.. I'm in the SFV and I don't know of any place that will Anodize it when I'm done milling. I'm aware once it's complete, the shop will need to be an FFL, so does anyone have someone they recommend < 50 miles from SFV? Second.. I want the American flag engraved on it over the ano, so if the shop could do that too, that would be excellent!

Start with those ideas 1st since you don't actually have the lower.....

IIRC, if they can do it while you are present, hey do not need an FFL. If that is not feasible, have it anodized before you mill. The inside isn't gonna see a lot of wear anyway.

Yeah, I've heard of that. I'm not sure why.. but I want to have it finished prior to ano for that particular reason.

I have searched threads, but I slapped in mine.
I've attempted to google/bing laser engraving shops, a majority of them aren't ffls. As in my question I'm asking for a REPUTABLE source.
In regards to the lower, I'll have it in a day.. per Fedex tracker.

raw is bare alumn. non coated. 6061 or 7075 will be the material in regards to an AR paperweight

I'd recommend just getting it cerakoted over the raw aluminum. No reason to anodize it (or anodize it prior to cerakoting).

It will be easier to find a place to cerakote than annodize because
1) cerakoting is really popular in the firearms industry right now --> so lots of places/people are doing it

2) it requires less infrastructure to do it so some gun stores do it in house. Anodizing companies don't want to pay for an FFL if it's going to be a small part of their business.

Down here in San Diego, Parallax Tactical is doing it (under the name San Diego Cerakoting), but I think for lower receivers you have to remain on site (~2hours).

I just did a quick search for cerakoting shops in the San Fernando Valley area and found a few. I have no affiliation or any idea if any of the following are any good.

OC Custom Coating
Dave's Metal Works
Scorpion Arms (I didn't see any examples, but they showed up in google maps).

if they don't do it themselves, maybe they will give you some leads on who does.

I'm in a similar boat as you and plan to just cerakote the whole thing when done.

(just realized that SFV might be san fran...if that's the case then probably just repeat the search that I did above for your area)

My extensive google search has lead me to many business in the SFV that have A. Gone out of business, or B. Decided not to give call backs. I've found no place local to any avail.

IMHO buy one already annoed since getting a single piece is going to run150-200 dollars. Or Ceracoating is the next best option.

Lets us know who'll do it for 50 max. You might want to call around so you can start looking at other options.
