how about the AUG instead? -
Have you shot a bull pup before? They're a whole different animal. Kinda cuts down on ambidexterity with where the weapon ejected and the triggers are usually inferior. That said they're fun to shoot and my experience is the recoil is even more negligible especially in 556. I highly suggest you try one out first before you make the leap but it's your money. You may love it. From what I've seen it's 50/50 people either love them or hate them with a passion. Only way to find out is to shoot one.Just a libertarian guy in a Leftist Authoritarian state.

To buy one as a range toy / conversation piece? Definitely.
To buy one as a practical self defense tool? No.
I guess it depends on your individual needs.Comment

Don't do it unless you plan to spend another $300 to $400 for a better trigger from Geissele. The stock trigger is nasty with heavy pull and spongy spring. The Geissele trigger helps, but its still nowhere near as crisp as a Geissele AR15 trigger. I heard they come out with a new "Lightning Bow" trigger in addition to the trigger pack to make it better, but haven't tried the new trigger yet. It does have a different feel when you shoot as compared to an AR. You can feel the bolt cycle right next to your chin since the stock is part of the action. You have more gas from the bolt near your face since the ejection port closer. Its also much heavier than most AR15 rifles. Other than that, its a *****ing gun.
I suggest you find someone who has it and let you try it out before you fork over that kind of money.Last edited by ShadowX; 11-22-2015, 1:37 AM.Comment

I picked up a fairly new Tavor 18" in black a few months ago with some extras for a ridiculous price. I wouldn't have spent more on it though because I personally think they're an expensive firearm (compared to the AR pattern with plentiful parts, inherent accuracy and as good or better ergonomics). I have seen a few deals here occasionally so buy "previously enjoyed".
I thought the trigger fit the internet forums chatter in that it's pretty heavy/stiff, so that could be a negative.
The integrated iron flip up sights are a nice touch but I didn't like them personally so I put an optic on it. (additional cost)
Those could all be reasons not to get a Tavor I suppose. However, I have always loved the bullpup rifle appearance and really do enjoy owning & shooting my Tavor. It has its place in my collection of fun rifles and certainly gets my friends attention when they see it. It's a high fun factor rifle for sure.
If you just want something different then go for it!Comment

I don't dig any bullpup because a rifle doubles as a club and bullpups make poor clubs.Comment

Man I just went and looked at the prices of these on GB, thanks for the laugh. In a state where corruption abounds, laws must be very numerous.

I like the idea that it would fit in my safe. My question to myself would be buy a new safe or buy a Tavor. I like the bullpup design but wonder about firing that close to your face. What if you have a low order and then the next round blows up in your cheek? Never had an AR15 blow up, but have seen what happens to shotguns or rifles that have the barrel plugged.Rescue the weak and needy; Deliver them from the hand of the wicked. Psalm 82:4Comment

Pretty much all semi auto rifles suck in California, unless you have a RAW, are a protected class of citizen, or if the rifle is featureless without being terrible.
I am too used to freedom these days, kalifornicated guns are just awful to me. Get an SKS, m1 (a), svt, mini14 (*shudders*), m1c, ares SCR, browning BAR, 22lr AR, etc.Last edited by Click Boom; 11-22-2015, 8:29 AM.Comment
