I have and do work with tons of NPs and I have never heard of such a thing.

I agree in academia, the deans, etc. that hold doctorates are referred to as Dr.

    But as someone said above.

Pharm Ds, PTs, and from what I have seen NPs do not refer to themselves as Dr. _______.
My patients called me doctor when I was just a lowly BSN-RN. Just because I was a male. With scrubs and a stethoscope around your neck, being a male people automatically think you are a doctor in a hospital. So yeah lol they do. My colleagues don't however, that would be weird, it's first names only. I thought he was asking in a more academic type environment or an informal type introduction.

yea.. our ophthalmologist for sure go by doctors and are quite awesome.

this optometrists however goes by Dr. and REQUESTS to go by MD.They can't really do too much in comparison to an ophthalmologists. I guess it is what is it. anyway, back on track.

any thoughts on polymer 80s with reinforced metal buffer tubes or MAG 80% lowers.

      edit
just saw they come as 90% and in huge quantities... i thought i saw some 80s before.

The MAG lowers are made of magnesium and much lighter by i think 35%?

She quickly squashed it, and requested to be called by her first name. Anyway, thank you both for all the content in this thread both on and off topic.

On a side note, I am going for my 3rd degree- switched over to hopefully start a expedited BSN program in Fall of 2016. I was originally going admin in health care but wanted to see if nursing might be my thing so I tried being an MA and I like it a lot. so all I have left is anatomy and physiology and then i can apply!
Oh god A&P was horrible. But Organic Chem was worse. I hated those IUPAC names and ect.. Be prepared for hell man. The BSN program was hell. Especially all the Kaplan tests you have to take. They make you feel like you are going to fail for 2 straight years, its only your last year that they try and encourage you. And it is easy to fail. All the classes are co-requisites, so if you fail one you fail them all. you pretty much fail the semester. And they do things like math conversion exams where you have to get 100% correct. If you get one little thing wrong you fail, and you only get 3 chances. If you fail the 3rd chance you fail the semester. The kaplan tests too. If you fail on of the 20-30 tests per semester you fail the class. Its horrible. lol but if you have a passion for it, you will somehow make it.

          ^^^^

what he said, we had about a 30-40% attrition rate, but we did have about a 80% 1st time pass rate for NCLEX. If you have the drive, and made grades in your prerequisites you can do it. Whether you will or not, well, that is up to you.

          Best part is,
when you are done with school, that is when it gets hard.

They earned that title and its disrespectful not to call them Dr. Last name in an informal setting, or in school. If one of my professors was a doctorate nurse we called them Dr. Drummond or Dr. hart-Kepler.

However, their colleagues, friends, ect.. they go by first name. So if you know them on a personal level you just use their first name.
I got real dirty looks for doing that once. I was doing a ride along as part of my EMT class back in '87 and we ended up at a local hospital. The medic (the county didn't have paramedics yet), myself and a ER nurse were standing in a hallway talking (I was just listening) when a cardiologist walked past us. The nurse said "hello Dr. .....", The Medic greeted him the same way. Then, I said "Hi Spence", he said "Hi Greg" and kept walking. Both the nurse and the medic just stood there glaring at me. I'll never forget the disgust in their eyes. Anyway, I had known him for a few years because, we shot together and BBQed at a private club every week. Hell, I didn't even know he was a MD for a year or so.

BTW, again, I suggest asking your buddy which lowers work best for him/his equipment but, for the price, it's hard to beat the TM deal. I've been considering picking up a dozen of them just to another dozen paperweights on hand.

He publicly advertises this service and has a class of 15-20 once a week.

Yeah, My sister is an attorney. Technically she is a doctor PHD. but you would never hear anyone call her doctor. not ever in any situation. Maybe as a professor, but thats it.

OK... I can't see this costing less than buying a stripped lower. Unless you're building a pistol, or in it just to learn, what's the point of doing an 80% build? With stripped mil spec aluminum lowers constantly in the $50 range, I just don't see any other point to doing an 80% build.

If you're in it to learn, you might as well buy a stripped lower for now and spend some more time learning to mill a full lower instead of finishing an 80%. If you want a pistol, it's cheaper and fully legal to just ppt a built one.
