    AR-15 Triggers

Been contemplating picking one up to toss into my current AR-15 build.

I've been eyeing the CMC 3.5lb trigger.
I really love the look of a curved, but the flat trigger aspect appeals to me; so basically I like the "hybrid" look.

I have little to no experience smithing, so I'm a little worried about dissecting the trigger group.

Any thoughts on what types of upgraded triggers to go with?

CMC's are drop in. What's to dissect?

That's definitely not gunsmithing, it's 2 pins and you're done. A vise and lower receiver block would definitely help, as would an appropriate punch, but you could do it with a hammer and small screwdriver or other tool to get the pins started.

If you're not confident in swapping those parts, ask if any local members would be willing to meet up to help, or check with your LGS to see if they'll do it for you. Oftentimes if you buy the part from them they'll install it for free. (Basic stuff like pistol sights, some ar parts)

You can find many videos on youtube for how to do this.

Thanks, just first time jitters is all.
My main point of this thread was in regards to considering any and all triggers, should have clarified that earlier.

Its super easy to install trigger pins. I too was intimidated at first. I didn't even need a vise. I just pushed them in by hand and tapped the rest of way in with a rubber mallet. I recommend a rubber mallet instead of a hammer. You don't want to leave any marks if you accidentally hit the receiver. You might need a punch to remove the old trigger pins.

Do you want a single stage or a two-stage? If you get that answered, go from there.

Installing triggers is not rocket science. You can close you eyes and put it together. "Its so easy even a caveman can do it."

I was taught to do burst groups with a government issued ball point pen. Sometimes I use a pocket knife or leather awl on my multi tool.

You should try just polishing the surfaces and see if that performs enough for you. If it's not a competition gun, you probably don't need anything special.

If you want something really nice and can afford it look into the Wilson Combat or AR gold triggers...

I'm a fan of Geissele triggers. While I don't' own one of the Geissele 2 Stage (G2S) Triggers, I've heard good things from folk who do.

                              Installation also a breeze.
