CA legal FAL mags

Hey BarrettM99---I only have very old Israeli FAL mags myself---never found one that didn't work---they have a Small Hebrew mark on the lower corner---hard to see unless you're really looking for it…
They were $5 bucks a piece back in the day...

If you already own 20 rds mags legally then why would you want to block them?

Is it because one cannot use a 20rd mag in an otherwise CA legal FAL? Just like one cannot use a 20 or 30rd mag on a CA legal AR?

I wouldn't mod any that I already owned, but yes, you cannot attach a magazine over 10 rounds into a bullet button equipped rifle otherwise you would've created an assault weapon per CA PC.

Does not matter. You cannot at any time put a standard capacity magazine in a bullet button equipped rifle with "evil features."

Grip wrapped FAL or AR is Cali Legal and you are able to use 20 and 30 rounders in them.

Not a fan of the ergos on a wrapped weapon though or the BB for that matter so I prefer a rifle stocked weapon.

I believe this thread is largely about the City of L.A.s recent ban on possession of any magazine over 10 rds---they would like this to apply to any mags even if you legally bought them before the California statewide ban…
Next the City of L.A. would like to require EVERYBODY to have all their guns locked up at ALL times unless you are "using" it---whatever that means...

Incorrect. A permanently attached magazine that holds more than 10 rounds is itself an "evil feature." Putting a mag lock on an otherwise featureless semi-auto rifle with >10 round magazine (legally, or illegally possessed) make the rifle have a new evil feature.

Copy that. Hadn't really considered the grip wrap route. I don't think I would like the ergos either.

Long as the mags are made to be permanently blocked, they're fine. Meaning that they can not be converted back to standard capacity without tools and significant effort.

Also, FYI...on FAL mags, you have to make sure that the space between the feed lips at the front of the mag is the correct distance apart. Some mags are too narrow and cause feeding issues without correction. I had a couple of mags that wouldn't feed.

I did some research here and elsewhere. My conclusions based on this research was that the opening between the feed lips at the front of the mag has to be .5235" to feed reliably. Once I Dremel'd the opening to .5235", the mags fed perfectly.

I have 3 DSA 10 round mags and none of them feed reliably. I measured the feed lips on all of them and they are about .510. The mags that came with the rifles are around .523. Now that I know why they would never feed, I can fix them. Thanks.
