    Windham Weaponry

This company has an interesting history, tracing back to the original Bushmaster Co. Apparently the original owners of Bushmaster had a non-compete agreement which recently expired, and went back into business in the original factory in Maine (?). Read about it here:

I found their current carbon fiber AR-15 in stock on the website of a local gun shop, priced at $705. I haven't gone in to examine it. I've never owned any AR-15, but have some experience with 5.56 via my SCAR 16 and Mini-14 and like the caliber. The light weight of this Wyndham model appeals to me.

Any comments on Windham, good or bad? Has anyone seen any of their products?

I have a Windham AR-15, bought new as a factory built rifle. Completely reliable, and better than average fit and finish. Overall as good as anything else I own AR-wise.

Mine is the standard aluminum frame. I don't know about the carbon fiber version.

Love my Windham SRC, good company too. I would rather buy guns from a small, reputable company like Windham than an evil empire like the Freedom Group owned new Bushmaster. If you call Windham, you will actually speak with a real person who will actually help you, a novel concept these days. Their newsletter is good too. I would buy another if I were in the market for an AR.

Based on your picture, I think that's the one I'm interested in, if it has the carbon composite receiver. The configuration is spot on in the picture.

I've only ever read and heard good things about Wyndham.

on a side note: carbon fiber deteriorates and becomes brittle as it ages.

I have a Wyndham 20" govt barrel that is really nice. The FSB is a tiny bit canted left, but it still zeros.

its probably not the fsb but the barrel pin index into the receiver when tightening the nut

Good to go, their FIT and Finnish to me look above average, I call them the real Bushy, Id put them at the top of my list, with Colt, RRA and a few of my other favorites in their price range, and above Bushmaster, PSA, Delton S&W etc.. although they are all fine rifles as well.

Boeing and the U.S. Military are using carbon fiber composites in aircraft wings. Is there a credible source that reveals any research proving such deterioration? Also, if I'm not mistaken, the current issue battle helmet has carbon content, and maybe some body armor but not sure about that.

I too would stick with the aluminum receivers if you want to go with Windham. The "Carbon Fiber" they use is in no way the same league as Boeing, Lockheed, and other legit defense contractors.

Take a look at the broken pics of the plastic receivers: https://www.google.com/search?q=brok...FZFZkgodtsEMkg

There is nothing wrong with carbon epoxy receivers, the problem is that they duplicate the aluminum design and that is where the design weakness is. If designed from a clean sheet of paper a proper "plastic" design would work fine. Substituting plastic for aluminum is not the way to do it.

                              I agree wholeheartedly.
