All you have to do is unscrew the small screw on the right side (where you insert the bullet) and it will come apart. Play with it for one minute and you will figure it out.

Use a flat head screwdriver to remove the little nut, the mag catch and spring should fall out. then use a punch of similar item and push the bullet button body out through the other side.

I just removed my old first generation BB today to try out one of the new AR Raddlocks. Since I didn't plan to reuse the BB I was ok with scratching it up. I just removed the inner nut with a screw driver, pulled out the mag catch and spring, and then clamped the vice grips onto the BB. I rocked it back and forth while pulling up on it and it came out with just medium effort - no damage to the receiver at all. The end of the BB is a bit scratched up though.

You can use a punch and tap it out from the back, once you've removed the mag catch.

Will, have you ever tried this? This is what I thought and have even repeated it myself from hearing it so many times. When I took the mag catch out and took a look it looked to me like the hole in the BB is the same diameter as the hole in the receiver there was nothing for the punch to make contact with. I ended up just yanking it out with vice grips.

Thats kind of how I removed my first gen one except I used an actual vise, Prince was nice enough to send me a replacement 2nd gen body because the other was mangled

I had to do it a couple times with 1st gen BBs I upgraded. It's just slightly smaller than the catch hole. I don't remember what punch I used, but it worked. I don't have anything in front of me or I'd measure them.

On a side not - anyone installing a BB should file it until it drops in. There's no need for a press fit.

All of mine have just dropped in and easily come back out...but I don't know about this "first gen" stuff either...

First gen units can all be punched from the left side with a small punch. the hole is slightly smaller than the mil;-spec hole on an AR. You have to catch just one side with the punch. It is pretty easy, and does not mangle the BB for further use. The pull from the right side mangles the BB pretty badly.

After removing the gen 1 BB, just file down the intentional burr, and you now have a gen III to use in another rifle.

                        Thanks,
