My understanding of the 300BLK was that it was designed to be efficient out of a 8" barrel. If making a 5.56 pistol, go with 10.5"+ but with 300BLK 7.5" is ok. I think 300BLK is a great choice for a pistol. But for almost any purpose here in CA it ends up being just a cool range toy due to the BB. Also, suppressors aren't hard to come by, they're impossible to get for the peasantry.

That MOE SL SBR looks really cool. I'm really not sure if or when I'll build a pistol while still here in CA though. Its cool factor is conflicting with my need for owning practical firearms.

I just purchased the daniel defense ddm4v7 in 300 black today. I also have been thinking about it for a while and already have been reloading some test rounds.

I've put about 70 rounds through my 16 inch Daniel Defense DDM4V5 in the 18 months I've had it. Fun cartridge to shoot. Just unfortunately I don't have reloading capabilities to shoot it more often and factory ammo can be expensive. Will be parting ways with it now =/. If you have the money and reloading capabilities it's fun. People talk **** about it saying it's **** like an ak... every time I've shot an ak I've had a blast

Then, that is the right path, I say!
              It'll be fun!

I'm currently in that planning stage too.
And I'm leaning towards making it a home defense gun, too.
Initially sounded dumb to deal with a BB and 10rd mags for HD...but a mag coupler and training could offset that.

Ive been inspired after recently discovering Lehigh Defense's new "Close Quarters" ammo. Their only other caliber in that line being 243....which seems funny.
but this CQ 300blk is a 78 gn aluminum tip/brass petal wonder that prolly spits out of an 8.5"at 2500+ fps?

I decided to go 7.5" or 8", but haven't decided on brake or linear comp. I could likely shoot faster on target with a brake, but linear comp seems smarter indoors.

I was gonna base plinks off 150 fmjbt's, like someone else mentioned, but I read of some good experiences of some running 30 carbine roundnose 110's?
That would be better to train with comparing to those hot Lehigh CQ rounds.
You're gonna touch those off indoors? They're going to be ridiculously loud.

My 16" 300blk runs subs through it no problem, suppressed or not. Carbine length system IIRC. Have thought about an adjustable gas block, but not sure its actually worth it. I have never had a FTF with the 300blk at all. My buddy has a 300blk pistol and he has had some issues with double feed etc. that ihave not had.
I love the 300, it shoots awesome close in and I hit well with it out past 300 yards. With a SRT suppressor on it its quiet with full power loads and stupid quiet with subs, and you can still hit hard out past 100 yards. MUCH better than a 9MM for the job.
Only downside is the cost of .30 cal projectiles vs 22 cal, but even thats not that bad.
My current go to load is a 125GR Speer TNT over H110 using a CCI primer, Rem 300 cases. Excellent accuracy in my gun, and the bullets are not horrendously priced.
Fear is the spare change that will keep you broke

Call him run-like-hell-when-shtf-guy or dial-911-guy but NEVER call an unarmed man "Security".

Oh hell yeah. That's what electronic ears are for.
I would run a suppressor if I could.

In home defense, when your life is at stake, you're worried about rounds being loud?
