So where all the 300blk guys at?

For a good 3 months you couldn't log into a forum with out seeing a wall of 300blk threads.

Then the SAAMI spec it, and now nothing.

    Not cool anymore? What gives?

We got passed the initial overglorification of an extremely limited round (especially in this state without suppressors) and moved onto something better... the 6.8!

At least that's what I did. It is tons better than .300 BO.

I just finished up loading up 100 rds with 110gn nosler varmegeddon over win 296 its been my go to round for over a year. Consistants out 500 yards and easy on cost for us reloaders. What's not to love about the 300 BLK

Marketing budget must have dried up at AAC.

I have a Blackout rifle and pistol. As I have said from day one, it is a marginal rifle round that only shines if you can suppress it or SBR it. If it was the .30 Carbine Super by Jim Zumbo, it would never have caught the hype tailwind it did.

There is a reason the .300 Whisper took so long to catch on...

I'm am right here. How can I help you?

This week I finished another batch of rounds and have a healthy 2K on hand now. Why? I dunno because this is America!

I converted my own brass, and swaged some pulled mosin bullets down to .308 and now I have 2k steel core 300 Blackout ammo haha... they run 2000FPS so its not a completely useless use of components!

Still here. In the process of swapping out all my 5.56 to 300blk because i found myself not shooting the 5.56 for the longest time.

What i dont get is the folks who keep chiming in about suppressor is the only way for 300blk... i think 300blk shooters got tired of saying the 300blk isnt limited to only suppressor and just dont talk about it any more.

Just changed the handguard on my 300BLK pistol. I love it but I dont shoot it as much as my 5.56 pistol these days due to my laziness in reloading. It is the most accurate AR that I have and it has a 8.5in barrel so I think that is a win. Im using the 7.62x39 Acog on it since I don't use subs (although I have tested them and they work)

Since I mentioned that, I guess I'll give my thoughts. I don't believe it's the only reason to own a .300 BO, but I believe it is a big reason why. I haven't shot with suppressors at all but the subsonic .300 I shot was VERY pleasant as far as recoil impulse, noise level, and cycling. If someone was looking for subsonic at all, I would suggest the .300 BO until I am convinced something else is better for that. With that in mind, a suppressor would make that set up VERY awesome.

Once we start talking about the supersonic options of .300 BO, I get very bored very fast. If you want just a fun 30 cal round and won't be bothered by it's trajectory or hunting bullet options for past 100 yards, then go for it. I still wouldn't want to be shot by it at any range, but there are other rounds that are far more efficient in the supersonic range (hence the 6.8 I mentioned). And those other rounds have a much better bullet selection, trajectory, and expansion/fragmentation ranges. But none of that matters if you are staying within 100 yards or don't want those capabilities beyond 100 yards.

Hence, why I said being able to run it suppressed would be a big reason to have one. It's definitely not the only reason to own one, though.

Well, it's a cartridge that when loaded with decent big/medium game hunting bullets produces pretty lackluster velocities such that bullets may not expand as designed. Likewise, when loaded with bullets that are more optimally suited for the case capacity the velocity is still pretty lackluster and the bullets no longer have an appropriate sectional density for big/medium game such that they may not penetrate as much as would be needed. IMO, it's a short range round (of which there are many others to choose from) with limited usefulness in MY real world.

However, what I find interesting is that it is easily loaded to subsonic velocities with slippery bullets which would allow a shooter to experiment with subsonic ballistics in a relatively quiet and mild recoiling rifle. The idea of losing only a few fps over a couple of hundred yards is pretty cool and I appreciate quieter rather than louder guns. Not to mention, it seems like it would be pretty easy on brass and (once brass is formed) extremely easy to load.

Waiting for my TA11-C 300blk Acog and my buddy is waiting on his muffler. Next I'm going to test how well the BDC for supers and subs work; so for now

Currently I'm working on bringing my m1a to 1moa.

Target shooters/plinkers that reload is the prime market and that is a small bunch of people. I like mine but I always liked the 300 whisper. I wanted to put a 30 caliber hole in a 100 yard target, so it's good for that.

Not in the past two years. 1680 is only a myth now. Looking for H110 or W296 for my BLK work in single and bolt fun guns. -g
