Dude. Bolt Hold Open is gods gift to man. I only tolerate my AKs because LUCKILY, my ARs hold open. Luckily!

ppft, incorrect. The retaining pin popped out enough to bind the piston in place, preventing any fore / aft movement of bolt whatsoever.

I'm guessing it's somewhere between a cast lower and a polymer lower.

It's very rare to see a cast lower break, vs. the scores of busted polymer ones that come up.

I wonder how the magnesium lowers hold up- or maybe do a skeletonized cast lower to see if that will hit the fail point

Look at what Henderson uses. Frog lube is
If it worked that well, they'd definitely use it since it's non-toxic.

Their experience with lube seems to match mine- most any GOOD lube works fine. I've used weaponshield, break-free, Slip-2000, and militec-1 with similar results.
Militec does seem to stay where you put it longer- good for carbon steel blades.

You could use rust to lube an AK and it would be fine.

it's just one more thing to go wrong with your weapon. Some weapons have them some don't and if you look how the AK is designed is't not easy to install one that has a very robust design

In that sense, a magazine catch is like an escalator then. If something goes wrong with it, it doesn't prevent you from getting where you need to go. You can still use it as a flight of stairs, but it's still nice when it works.

What is your guys opinion on Definitive Arms 103U AK? What do you guys think about Arsenal SLR or SAM series rifles?

They seem like a lot of money but its justifiable if its my only AK. Ok this is my excuse/justification for spending that kind of coin on an AK :P

Turners is having an Izhmash Saiga Upgraded 7.62x39 sale this weekend for 899, is this worth it? or is the extra 500 better spent on an Arsenal/Definitive Arms? http://www.turners.com/izhmash/izhma...762x39--277495

sorry rifle dynamics AKs are too expensive $2,000, nah man nah.....

people in iraq and afganistan were dipping a noted shoelace in motor oil and pulling them through their barrels and cleaning their lot carrier and bolt with nothing but motor oil and it worked

AK is made for the illiterate peasant dolt so ANYONE can learn how to use it:

                                I mainly shoot .22lr, 9mm,45 acp, 357 & 38, 12G, 7.62x39, .308, .223/556, 7.62x54r, 300 win mag, 8x57
