OK. I had the same issue with 3 mags I bought from ASC around Veteran's Day last year. I think they had a bad batch. I called them, explained what was happening, & sent the mags back on their dime. They sent me 3 new ones that have worked flawlessly. Try giving them a call. Their customer service is really good.

Negative.
Without getting too far into it, ASC was formed when the owners of C Products started having business disagreements. The smarter of the two owners went on to form ASC and makes, in my opinion, the best 7.62x39 AR mags on the market and their customer service is excellent to boot.
The other partner kept the C-Products name and currently makes some of the more, let's say "economical," magazines on the market and their reputation reflects their quality.Comment

I have a feeling they do it to comply with CA's vague requirement of "Permanent" when describing Mags limited to 10 rounds. The mags are able to be disassembled, and still only allow 10 rounds (no removable limiter) by crimping the body.
If they would move the crimps down 3/16 to 1/4" down from their current position, I don't thin it'd be an issue any more.95,000,000 people die each day in the U.S. from gun violence

The thing that would concern me is that if the follower is making it past the crimp, you may be able to insert more than 10 rounds into the mag at that point. If that is the case you would have an illegal magazine that doesn't work.Comment

That is the worst crimp job ever. There is nothing wrong with crimped mags if done right, many major pistol manufacturers ship crimped or dimpled mags standard. But that is a hack job.
It may be that ASC does them like this, I would call and ask. They are a great company to deal with. I have a lot of ASC mags and Smith and Wesson ships ASC with some CA model ARs. Find out if this is their crimp job or some 3rd party crimp job. Either way, someone needs to know about this and go back to the drawing board.Comment

Fortunately, that was not the case. I DID try to push the rounds down further hoping the follower would get unstuck but that didnt work. They got lose and fell off the mag. I've informed Mag Commander and decided to repair them myself. Learned something new at least.
And yes, the preventive measure would be load 9 rounds only!

These are factory crimps. I ordered mine directly from ASC, and that's how they looked. I forgot to measure the first batch to see if they relocated the crimps on my replacements. I have 10 rounds in them right now, and there is a bit of slack after the 10th round. Not near enough to fit an additional round, but the follower isn't binding or bottoming out at all.It may be that ASC does them like this, I would call and ask. They are a great company to deal with.
