Price check on Rhineland Arms R22

What's the market like on these? I bought one of the first kits years ago and have only shot it twice. It shoots great but its just gathering dust now.

    Any constructive info is appreciated.

I've seen them go for $700.00 and up. There were a couple of versions, or series with internal changes, mainly to the bolt. Some of the R22's had a reputation of jamming.

I have one, and I really enjoy shooting it. I've done some work on it and recently bought a modified bolt for it. Mine seems to be very accurate and people nearby tell me it is extremely quiet.

There was once one on GB dot com and it jammed and the somewhat flimsy stock had been cracked and it still went for about $500.00 IIRC.

I guess some factors applicable to pricing would be which "series" gun (i.e. which style bolt), bull or regular barrel (I THINK there was a barrel option), accuracy and reliability in addition to the usual about condition, etc.

Do you know how to tell which version bolt you have? I have one I got very early on, presumably with the original bolt design.

Where did you find a modified bolt for yours?

        Thanks for the info eltee.

Mine was a "kit" gun and came without the bolt and AR trigger parts. The barrel on mine is .750 in dia. it uses a stock Ruger bolt and AR lower parts kit. It runs fine with 10 and 25 round mags although they are not as secure in the receiver as they are in a 10/22 but they don't fall out or cause malfunctions.

Like esskay I'd like to know how your bolt differers from a stok 10/22 bolt.

There is alot of info over at the rimfire site. Here's the thread where the bolts are discussed: http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums...rhineland+bolt

On that thread, there is alot of info on how to tell what variant your R-22 is and alot of stuff on the bolts and jamming problems on some R-22's.

My Rhineland has the receiver built to Ruger 10-22 specs internally so a Ruger bolt fits. I bought a 10-22 bolt that was radiused, polished, had the firing pin staked by a roll pin (limits vertical travel) and fitted with a VQ extractor. I got it from Randy who runs CPC, a 10-22 bolt modification service. He sells modified bolts. I am using the Rhineland OEM bolt at this time, and FTF's/FTE's are minimal and the reliability improves the more I shoot it. I use only Ruger and T.I. magazines. I wanted to see if the modified Ruger bolt would make it 100% or maybe use it as a model to modify the Rhineland bolt. I have a few 10-22's so that modified bolt will not go to waste.

If your particular Rhineland is not a factory built complete R-22 but rather one of the conversion kits, the prices I stated may not apply. I was referencing the R-22's that came as a complete firearm.

Truth be known, I might have preferred a kit version where you could supply the internals. It would have been nice to have a custom bolt and a custom built barrel although I am very happy with mine which has the bull barrel from Rhineland. I was able to machine real HK stocks (fixed and Choate-made folder) to fit on mine, since the Rhineland stock felt a little airsoftish IMHO.

If you decide to sell, you should have no trouble finding a buyer for your Rhineland. It is really a unique, fun to shoot firearm that draws attention at the range.

Looking at the color or the receiver and the fact you put a 10/22 bolt in it, it would have to be a first gen.

If you have R22 questions, PM a calgunner named Crank. He has 2 of them, both work great.
