Cosmetics are not a big concern. Just reliability and feeding.
It's not just cosmetic issues. It could be pretty serious requiring a lot of work and or money.

Keep in mind, the Galil fundamentally is an AK. While I think Galils are really cool, practically speaking if you don't want to take a risk you are far better off with a AK in 5.56

Maybe you weren't part of the gun world in late 2012-early 2014 but I saw crappy 556/223 going for WAY above $1/rd.

Thats plenty of experience in my book.

In a SHTF scenario ya theres more 556 ammo lying around (in people homes cuz the stores will be cleaned out in hours) but who the hell is going to share in SHTF when there is no more stocking up? OK, a few reloaders may have so much they can spare some but reloaders are what, maybe 1% of gun owners and the number who have that much ammo/components to spare is probably less than 1% of all reloaders.

556 is common because everybody and their grandma has an AR15. Meaning ya theres more but theres a hell of a lot more competition for it.

Just shows the common calibers get hit first.
yep. 7.62x39 was available but Ive seen the AK community explode in the last 2 years meaning theres lots more demand nowadays too. I never saw 30-30, .243, .270 out of stock even in early 2013.

        9mm, .45 and 5.56 came back much later. And .22LR still hasn't.

But, really, the only reliable source for ammo in SHTF is your safe. Unless you're bugging out, then it's your trunk. Stock up, guys.
        amen!
