Yes, the bulk Federal box is pretty much the best local retail deal you can get. Online you can probably do better for either buying bulk and/or sales on better stuff (like the Lake City when it drops to $8/box). Sales tax vs shipping is usually close. I suppose online will lead even more once our LA county sales tax goes to the proposed 10.25% next year.Comment

I've never seen a Walmart in the Sacramento area that carries these.
About a year ago I went to 8-9 of them and every one of them said it's not something they stock.Comment

An update for this afternoon (11/98/08) The Wal-Mart on Carl Boyer drive (Canyon Country side) only had two boxes of the Federal 100 pack on the shelf when I went there about 1500. The Wal-Mart off I-5 in Stevenson Ranch had about 8-10 on the shelf. Service to get the case open was a whole different matter
Stevenson Ranch store had an overall better selection with .223, 7.62 x39, .45 ACP and other calibers seeming to be stocked well.Comment

I picked up Remington at Wal-Mart and personally think it's crap. To be fair, it's a grab bag. One box groups around the center just fine and then the next one is consistently grouping a ring or two away. I bought it so I'd have something to get started with but am looking for a better brand at a cheap price.Do not try and bend the spoon, that's impossible.
