    U-15 without a buffer tube?

I just had a thought about the U-15 stock for the AR. If you installed one of those new gas developed of the AR-15 (like this:http://www.tactical-life.com/online/...amsarmstop.gif)

You could take off that buffer tube that sits above the U-15 stock right? And then a new stock could be developed that looks more like a regular rifle stock?

No you still can't do away with the buffer tube with a gas piston design. the buffer tube gives the bolt a place to recoil to.

Right, unless you use a Z-M Weapons upper which or other upper that has a redesigned bolt that doesn't require a receiver extension (buffer tube). Rifles using these uppers can actually have a folding stock, a unique feature on an AR type rifle.

If you want a hunting-looking stock, there was a project (blackstar) that was working on a hunting-rifle-looking stock for an AR. I have not heard anything recently about that project for a while though.

Is an A2 stock + monster man grip not a close enough look to a hunting-style stock?

You still could not legally attach a pistol-grip to an AR that does not have a buffer-tube without a BB, nor could one legally attach a folding stock to a non BB rifle.

Last I heard, the Blackstar project quietly folded under.

Too bad they banned the AR-180. What about Sig 556?

Legal without evil features, or with a bullet button.

Side folding stock may be illegal if it brings the overall length under 30 inches when folded.

I prefer the pistol grip, but I'd rather have a rifle stock and a detachable magazine. The Monsterman grip looks like it wouldn't be very comfortable, but I've never held one so... Anyone live in Far Nor-Cal with a Monsterman Grip?

Hold one first . Gotta be someone sorta near you who can help you try one out!

I sure there is a local retailer in the area that has one on display? You may want to call around.

If you removed the buffer tube from a U-15 equipped rifle, where are you going to get a cheek weld?

I'm pretty sure the AR-180B (the most recently produced variant, which has greater parts commonality with the AR-15 anyway) is off-list.

Ah, confusing the issue with logical questions, eh?
