The penal code specifically addresses that issue. It is legal to have a BB. It is specifically stated that "for purposes of this section, the tip of a bullet is considered a tool." That being said, I know a number of officers who merely look at an AR and think it's illegal because they have never been trained in the specifics of the law. (They don't get that detailed in the basic academy) Bottom line - BB is legal.

Note to self: sell BB, sell prince 50, sell Mini-14, must not own guns or go to jail.

Seriously for the BB a tool is required to release the mag, the Prince 50 is a break open action to reload, and the Mini-14 is "all you can eat affair." More BS from a gun store employee.

Note to self again, avoid Turners!

            FUD!!!
those turners employees dont know what theyre talking about.even with the open mag well and the bb installed doesnt make it an illegal aw,since the magazine is not detachable.its an attachable mag build and would need a tool to drop the mag.

I explained to him that all the research I have done says the BB is legal, he admits it is legal, however, the two individuals that lost their guns, apparently got a bum rap. Bum rap or not, we know in the US, you are guilty till proven innocent (unless your O.J.). I just can't bear the thought of losing my guns to a $25.00 part. I know, I sound paranoid, can't help it.

J and J Armory had a similar attitude. They push the Prince50.

If he can't give names or any information regarding the court case consider it untrue. Especially since Calguns would most definetly hear about it.

The fact is if the BB was even a "grey area" more FFLs would have their liscences pulled and more users here would be in jail.

If you want no risk, sell your guns.

Yeah I know Saigon1965, just want all this political BS to go away. I am really frustrated, I want a BB and now I am scared. Maybe I will calm down about it when I start hanging out at shoots and see what is being used. I think I may have broken a cardinal rule "do not allow one person's opinion to chose your path".

There are numerous stores that sell/display/stock OLLs with BBs installed.

They are audited by the DOJ/ATF.

If it were illegal, would they still be selling them?

Relax Captain, you have a better chance of being hit by lightning than having one of only a few DOJ agents in the state give you a hard time for a perfectly legal part. They won't admit it but they too know its legal.

Hang out at Angeles on a weekend. You'll see the whole line full of OLLs with shooters dropping mags using BBs.

Your right, take deep breath, restore common sense, ahhh...better now.

The employee also claimed that DOJ's hang out at shoots to watch for AW's. With that statement I should have known not to take it too serious. I really feel foolish now, if the admin wants to delete this thread, it is alright with me, sorry.
