Any suggestings? A slip on would be fine. Shoulder is usually bruised after about 50 rounds the next morning, especially when shooting prone. I think I could just just a tad more length. The stock pad is hard and very thin, worse than most of their cheaper stocks, might as well just be a metal plate. Limbsaver would be fine, just not sure which one fits.

Contact member kcscott about threading your barrel for a muzzle brake.
He is down your way.Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

Drive up to LA and have Randall (AR15barrels) do it while you wait. Its worth it.
If you get an oversized limbsaver he can also profile it on the belt sander cut the stock one off the stock and attach the limbsaver.
He can do both the limbsaver and the muzzle brake.Comment

^I'd recommend this (above) for the 5r. The stainless brake will match your barrel and it will be custom contoured to look seamless with a timed installation. I'd rather not pay for brake installation and timing on barrel burners, but .308 last a long time, so you may as well get it done right since that gun has a nice barrel and you will enjoy shooting it much more. If you wanted to be able to only shoot 50 rounds then have to call it quits, you could have saved money and gotten a cheaper skinny-barreled gun. Or, you could have saved the money and gotten a model with a whiffle bat stock and swapped it with a heavier stock and had money left over.Comment

Stiffer barrel is still better even for 50 rounds, and I wanted a stainless action, but yea... I'll probably modify this rifle a bit over the next few years then pickup something more accurate if I feel the need later. But I have alot more learning to do first. The custom limbsaver installs look nice but a little advanced to setup, and you only get one shot, so I figured a slip over would do for a while until I can buy a better stock.^I'd recommend this (above) for the 5r. I wish I had the tools to remove the barrel from the action, then it would be a no-brainer.Comment

You are only a couple hours away on a Saturday.
Get a muzzle brake and setup an appointment...Randall Rausch

The problem with breaks is that you cannot use them in some competitions.Comment
