I do plan on just keeping the rifle and passing it down as a family heirloom. Basically, I don't have anything in it and I'm kind of proud of the detective work and the discovery of the history along with the photos I've found so far. I'm a bit obsessed with it frankly. In my free time I find myself searching the Internet for information and photos of Cooper and Hemingway. I'd really like to find a photo with Hemingway and the rifle. I took Pat Hemingway turkey hunting on my family's ranch when I was a teenager. Pat was Earnest Hemingway's middle son. That guy had some incredible stories. I made him go to my high school with me one day after we had finished hunting. He spoke to my English class and answered questions. One student asked him which book was his favorite of all the stories his father had written. Without hesitation Pat said, THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA. The same student asked why he liked that book the best. Pat said, "because that is the book I get the most royalties off of!"

Beautiful gun and very cool story! Makes me even more jealous.
<-- green with envy. Also jealous of Gary Cooper's collection. I have often wondered what stories so many old firearms could tell if they could talk.
