    Savage Hog Hunter Awesomeness!

Alright. I saw this gun at the start of thus year and had purchased it sometime during summer. Didnt have tine to take it out but did shoot a few rounds to make sure it was zero. Went hunting with it and on day 2, BUCK down! (Pics later).

Today, i finally had time to go shoot for groups. The gun shoots right under MOA with scope but iron, right at 2.75". Im impress with this gun and will be hunting with it next year again.

I too have been eyeing this gun. Just haven't "pulled the trigger" yet. Pun intended

Nice shooting. Pretty typical for a Savage, but dont let the 700 guys hear you.

To the OP, what ammo, scope, maginification, and distance did you shoot that sub MOA group with?

All shot at 100 yards. Ammo was my untuned 200gr Amax 308, scope is a Vortex 2-7x crossfire ii.

Good to know and good shooting. My savage 11 th also has a 1:10 twist rate. Maybe I'll give that bullet a try once I work through my 168 NCC.

Yeah, i just bought some 168gr Nosler match i want to try. Hope they shoot well in the gun. Pushing it with Varget at 44gr. Seems to be the sweet spot for 308 where ever i look.

They've definitely got potential. I shot this at 100yds off a bench and caldwell bags with the 3-9x40 Nikon that came with it. I also let the barrel cool for 3-5 minutes between shots. Too bad it's only three rounds though. 5 shots would've most likely opened it up. I thought I was missing so I adjusted my scope and you can see the 4th impact there between the calipers. This was with LC brass so a sweet spot should come in between 44.0-45.0 grains of Varget for you.

Nice shooting! Makes me want to go tomorrow, but heard the storm of the century is suppose to be tomorrow.

Awe dam. Cancelled range sessions due to weather are best spent doing reloading chores like brass prep and pistol ammo

Haha, If the power goes out, a head lamp, one of those battery operated flashlights on a strap around your head will work well.

No, that's not true. Savages are not all that good. They will never compare to a Rem 700.

I can help you deal with that substandard hunk o' metal and dispose of it properly for you. You know, hazardous stuff and all that.

^^^ haha, yeah, that silly little free floating bolt works well as a paper weight. I use the barrel as a walking stick and the stock to beat my dirty rugs clean.

But when it's all put together...it's up to the shooter.

Out of the box at the same price point, Savage wins. Hats off to an American rifle manufacturer.
