Remington 700 recall

Links please? I'm interested. If that is true, I would consider getting a new trigger installed.

Remington has agreed to retrofit the rifles in question at no cost to the owner. Many users had new trigger mechanisms installed on their own, and Remington will reimburse them as part of the settlement.

I have changed to Timney triggers on the 3 past M700 that I sold and they worked top notch! As for the two I currently own both have Timney triggers and also work well! I do not have time to sit and wait to get my rifle back in about 2 WEEKS to shoot it again!

Yeah that's probably the way to go. I'm sure a Timney is going to be better than my stock trigger, but I was happy with my tuned stock trigger. I could just do nothing and keep shooting it, but will probably install something else and if Remington has a form for submitting receipts or they give a set rebate amount, I'll fill out the form. I doubt most people who upgraded triggers kept receipts so hopefully there won't be a requirement.

I just saw this yesterday. It reminded me of the tv special they had going a few years ago. Good that they are going to make it right, but remington had lost my business after that tv special.

Has anyone sent their rifle in to get a new replacement trigger yet? If so, how is the new trigger compared to the old trigger?

Checked my serial and it's affected by the recall. I'm calling remington to see if they give us the option to reimburse if we replace our own trigger. I'm looking at installing a timmey trigger.

Remember, folks, this is a CNBC report. *NBC = anti-2A. So, maybe this time CNBC is telling the truth, but their previous yellow-journalism examples leave me wondering about that. I'll believe this "recall all Walker triggers" bit when I see Remington making an announcement.

Hell the first thing I do, before I even have fired the new 700's I've bought, is to throw away those ****ty Remington triggers in my 700's and put a Timney or Jewell trigger in them. With Jewell being my favorite most always. Either brand makes the 700's have silky smooth triggers.

I didn't do this to make them safe, but, just to make them super nice to shoot.

Bingo, give this guy a cigar. People need to keep in mind that the ones putting this stuff out ARE in FACT anti-gun and anti- second amend. as well as anti-American. Race baiting bigots at best and communist in the normal. I just bought another Remington 700 yesterday and if its 1/2 as good as my Rem. 700 .300 Win Mag it's gonna be great. The new rifle has the X-Mark Pro trigger on it, it has the punch mark on the bolt release so I know that this rifles trigger has been gone through and cleared. I have never had any problems with the Rem. trigger and the only ones I have ever seen that did were F***ed with by the basement wannabe gunsmiths. By the way the Rem. I bought yesterday is a .300 RUM SPS and was 530.99 out the door, a good price??? If I wanted a different trigger I would go buy it and take it to my smith to install.

I have a 700 SPS tactical with the Mark X trigger. I bought it back in like 2010, not sure when it was made. I've put my serial number in on the recall website and it doesn't give me a straight answer. It says my rifle may be subject to a recall and asks for my shipping info. I don't wanna send my rifle in unless I'm positive the recall effects my rifle. Even then I may just get a aftermarket drop in trigger. Does anyone know if the 700 SPS Tactical is subject to any of the Remington recalls?

I have a 700P with original trigger. I am not sure what to do either.

I just went out to my safe and checked my one and only 700. I cycled the unloaded action 5 times, set and released the safety 5 times. Pulled trigger with safety on and released 5 times, no problem. Pounded pretty good on the floor with the rifle cocked with the safety on and off, no problem.
Now my bolt does NOT lock with the safety on. I thought from reading other boards that that was a Remington feature but apparently those were older models.
My rifle is a 700P. I've never messed with the trigger. I don't really care for the trigger but can't express why other than it doesn't feel familiar.
There are several other message boards discussing this an my take away is the recall is voluntary. IF you send your rifle in and IF it needs replacing, Remington will do it free of charge.
Now how long do you think that will take. I would just replace myself or through a competent Remington smith with an aftermarket trigger.
Like Coyotegunner said, you're likely to get your gun back with the trigger pull set by a lawyer.

And if I remember correctly everyone here said that news report was biased and not correct. I guess the Mother and Father that accidentally killed their Son do have a case.
