Fine! I'll try it for a week.

haha You aren't lying. We shot some steel out there a couple weeks ago. It definitely made it more fun. Had them at 200 yds. The most fun I had though was lobbing the .22 out there on a fixed 2.5x scope. lol

      Good times!

For a target application I don't think this is a good recommendation...

I think the OPs first pick, the PA scope, is a much better choice than anything in the Revolution lineup, including the TAC.

+1 on the SWFA recommendation for the OPs budget.

            Something else I forgot.

Should I be looking for something in the 24-26" realm vs the 20"?

Is the barrel length going to have a great impact on accuracy out to those ranges (600-100yds)?

If getting out to 1k is a goal with 308, every inch of barrel length counts.

On top of that, picking the right match bullet with a good BC to maintain that velocity and help cut down on wind drift.

Cool, thanks. I figured a longer barrel would be better.

The more I've thought about it in the last 10 minutes forget the Dick's exclusives. Exclusive just seems like a bad idea, like they would be made lesser quality. Hence the lower price.

Outside 400yds, wind becomes a considerable factor to making hits.
The longer barrels give better velocity which makes it easier to make hits.
Longrange shooters use longer barrels almost exclusively.
The additional barrel length increases velocity and the weight of the rifle which reduces recoil.
The only reason for 20" barrels on precision bolt guns is if you drive a miata or a smart car and can't fit a 26" barrelled rifle in your car.

If that's you, buy a real car before you worry about buying a real gun.

                      I would definitely get a Remington 700 in .30-06 or 7mm-08.
Both long range capable with flat trajectories.
If money is no object is get a Barrett 82a 416, .98b 338 lapua or Barrett 90 50 BMG.

Well if it wasn't for the .308 part and the $1000 budget, we might be on to something. lol

It's not too bad if you do what I do and spend 6 months on whether you should build up an existing rifle or purchase a new action....

                                Rifle $600
Scope $300 (got mine on sale so figure a bit more for a scope)
                                Base and Rings $100
Boyds Stock $100 (again on sale lol, but they're still only like $130)
                                Harris Bi-pod $90
                                Badger Bolt Knob $35
                                Magazine Extension $20
Here's my breakdown. As you can see, $1000 is super tight. You'll need a few hundred more just to get shooting. Your saying $1,000, but if you spend all that on gun/glass how you going to afford to feed it? Shooting long range means not running to Wal-Mart and buying the cheapest ammo you can. You'll want match grade ammo or handloads.
