I'm thinking about getting one of these in .223/5.56. Like the fact that it comes with an adjustable stock and uses standard magazines. Has anyone seen or shot one? Opinions?

Mossberg MVP Flex?

The short ar mags are a pretty big downside. I wouldn't want one. -
Short front to back. You can't run long ammoComment

I'm still kind of new to this, so please bear with me. By "long ammo" are you refering to NATO 5.56 ammo? If so, I was under the impression that the MVP will take it.
Another rifle I'm looking at is the Savage Axis II. I have a Savage rimfire and like the Accutrigger.Comment

I have the MVP flex 18" barrel. Super fun gun. Can shoot 556 whereas my Savage Axis 223 is not suppose to because of the higher pressures. With a cheap Walmart Tasco 3 to 9 x 50 scope... I was amazed to hit the 4 hanging targets at 300 yards at Angeles Range! The MVP was $590... the Axis was $339 at Turners with cheap Bushnel scope that broke on 1st outting, but Bushnel warranteed it for ten bucks...Comment

The axis can more than likely shoot nato stuff just fine. Its not a tight or short chamber. That's a different debate though...
I think 55gr can be loaded longer than an ar mag. Heavier stuff certainly can. I personally wouldn't want a gun that limits my ammo choices like the mpv. If all you shoot is bulk nato stuff its not an issue, but good accuracy is half the fun of a bolt gun.Comment
