Nice project! Given the rifling is still good and you have a good scope, it can probably shoot 1.25" at 100 yds. with surplus 147 gr ammo. And it can shoot sub MOA with match amp. And if it can't, then perhaps full bedding is needed.

Mine does sub MOA with Privi Partisan 182gr. Considering it's still a mass produced factory ammo, the rifle is outstanding in precision and superior to newly manufactured rifle under 1K (especially anything Ruger). Being able to shoot cheap surplus trough it is a even bigger bonus.

Is there no way to drill and tap a Mosin?

Mine doesn't like PP that much, but it loves 182gr Russian match N71.

I just got a case of it, "Sniper" ammo (7N1 it's 152gr actually), I'll see how it does.
There's several different PP loads, only tried 182 fmj and it's very impressive.

That could be said about any rifle. Including M16
To each it's own, not everyone likes what you do.

Customizing rifle to one's preference is as old as gunsmith-ing is.

These Mosins are sick because they can be accurate and they can chug thru 20 cents a round surplus. That is sweet imo.

It does not have to be Finnish, any Mosin can be if the barrel/chamber/crown/trigger is ideal. Finnish refurb or build has nothing to do with the rifles accuracy.
I owned several surplus Finns and none came even close to sub MOA in their stock form. Russian that I customized does.

What's gonna stop that thing from rusting like a mofo if you don't religiously wipe down/oil it?
