Looks like a double square bridge mauser action with dovatails cut into the bridges.

So I called my dad and he said it was a totally custom build but he doesn't know by who. I m going to take a look at my grandfathers gun safe next time I go back to my home town.

You won't find any factory ammunition for your Rifle. The 7MM / 300 Weatherby
is a wildcat cartridge. It was first used in the late 1950's and be came popular in the 1960's. It is a 300 Weatherby Magnum necked down to 7MM. A good long range hunting cartridge.

It would be easy to reload for since 300 Weatherby brass is available and there is loading data available on the net for it. It is strictly a rifle for a reloader. It could be custom loaded, but the cost for the ammo will be very $$$$$.

To ID the rifle, someone will have to examine it carefully to see what the action is.

Didn't Montana Rifle make rifles similar to the OP's that had hexagonal or octagonal barrel shapes?

I think I've seen pictures of Montana rifles like that; they were highly polished and blued.

Also, weren't some of those Montana rifles chambered for unusual cartridges, among them JDJ cartridges?
