you carry that and a shotgun hunting? are you the terminator?

in all seriousness, nice rig, i like guns that are tools... 50lb bench monsters that are good for nothing but shooting paper don't really appeal to me. It's probably too heavy for a field gun for me, but maybe you're 6'6 260.

I have a 1980s Remington 700 BDL 7mm that I have put some work into. Leopold VX-III, Buelher scope mounts, Jewell trigger, aluminum pillars, glass bedded, and a completely free floated barrel. The barrel, bolt, and action is stock. I am shooting 1 MOA or a bit under at 100 yards. I think it might shoot better, but I can't tell if it's the arrow or the indian.

My question: what kind of ammo does you 7mm like? I find that I am getting my tightest groups from Winchester 150 gr. Power-points. I tried 150 gr. Federal Premium Ballistic Tips and the group opened up to about 1.5". I also tried some 150 gr. Rem Core-Lok and again about a 1.5" -2" group. I also tried some 165 gr. PMC PSP and again about 1.5" group. I was recently told that the round to shoot for the tightest groups was a 140 gr. Federal Premium Nossler Partition, so I picked up a box of those and will try them next time I go to the range. They were $52.99 a box! Ouch!

What do you shoot? And what kind of groups are you getting?

Also, I am seriously considering a muzzle break. With the recoil the way it is now, 20 rounds at the range and I done. My rifle is definitely not a range toy. Any experience with muzzle brakes on these guns?

I have a Mag-na-port on my .300wsm it's loud but has made the recoil very manageable. It went from a sharp kick to a softer push, lighter than my .270 Winchester.

(that may not be spelled properly)

As of late I've been shooting hornaday whitetail 139 grain.. Was at the range last week but just as I got it close to zeroed the wind kicked up.. And I forgot my rest.. So.. I was blowing all over the place.

It's a block of wood that I shaped to fit the profile of the stock, and is pinned to the stock.. Then I shaped the block down to where when I shoulder the rifle and close my eyes, when I open them I am perfectly aligned up with the scope. The ammo carrier serves 2 purposes.. It retains the riser, and carries ammo.
