Short action would be something like .223; the overall reciever and bolt are shorter. Less throw when pulling the bolt back.

Long action would be something like 30-06; the reciever and bolt are longer to accept the much longer catridge.

Most manufacturers have long and short actions to accomodate, long and short cartridges.

      Ladies prefer the long action....

It has to do with the OAL of the cartridges. 30-06, .270 are long actions because the cartridges themselves are long, with corresponding long magazines and a long bolt stroke. The short actions, which contain cartridges such as .308, .243, .223, are therefore correspondingly shorter, with shorter bolt strokes and the ability to shave an inch or so from the OAL of the rifle itself for the same barrel length. Theoretically, a short action can produce a higher rate of fire than a long action, but in practice the difference is probably negligible. If you're worried about rate of fire in a bolt action, then you've got bigger worries in general.

Are you referring to the 10/110 Trophy Hunter XP and the 11/111 Trophy Hunter XP?

As far as I can tell the only difference is that the 10/110 has wood stock and is $691 while the 11/111 has synthetic stock and is $612. They both have the accutrigger and no accustock.

I bought a used 110 FCP-K in 300 WM and love it. It had everything I was looking for and nothing I did not want. 24in threaded, fluted, heavy barrel, DBM and double sling attach points upfront. It also had a raised cheek piece. Savage still offers this model but only in 223 / 308. They stopped making it in 300WM, hence the need for me to buy a used gun (from Calguns, btw). It has both Accustock and Accutrigger. Mr. Google says both are among the best for factory setups. Once my shooting skill improves to the point where I am limited by this, there are many aftermarket options (noted - not as many as a Remy 700, but still lots of options). This will be a long range hunting rig so AICs and such plateforms are not a consideration.

I think most of your questions were already answered above. The letters (FCP-K) all have meaning for Savage. A quick google search will help you understand more about the model numbers and letters.

            Good luck.
